Dear Diary,
When will I find a friend who doesn't make fun of me when I say I have two Dads? Who cares if I have two Dads? No one should. This whole thing is making me feel like children who have a mom and a dad are all bad. That means everybody in my school is bad.
Ava and Kelly started believing what Maddie was saying, and now they're not my friends anymore either. I definitely blame Maddie for making a big deal out of it, but Daddy M and Daddy S both say I shouldn't blame her entirely. They told me that it was the parents' fault for telling them having two mommies or two daddies is bad. Why do they say things like that? A boy being married to a boy isn't bad and neither is a girl being married to a girl!
Daddy M told me earlier that one day a friend would come who has either two mommies or two daddies and is also facing the same problem we are. I'm beginning to wonder when or if that friend will come around. I'm desperate for that friend right now...

The next day as I went into school, I noticed Ava and Kelly playing with Maddie again. I just sat down on the bench and slouched.
A few moments later, Maddie, Ava and Kelly came over. Maddie scowled at me.
"Why are you sitting all alone?" Maddie asked. "Because you have no friends?"
I didn't answer.
"You have no friends because of your Dads! If your Dads never got married, we would all be good friends!" Maddie explained.
"Stop making fun of my Dads!" I cried.
"What's the matter, Emily? You gonna cry and run over to them?" Maddie asked.
"No but I will go to the principal and tell him!" I shouted back.
"Ooh, I'm scared!" Maddie sassed.
As they walked away, I went over to one of the teachers and asked them to take me to the office, which they did, without asking why.
As I sat in the office waiting, I was imagining Maddie sitting here in shame and having to apologize to me for making fun of me and my Dads. I also imagined me and Kelly and Ava being friends again and doing what we did before. It was an unlikely scenario, but it could be possible.
As soon as the principal let me inside to talk, I told him everything. From what happened at my birthday party, to what happened at Kelly's birthday party to what happened at the playground just now.
But, all I got was a nod from the principal, and he told me this.
"Okay, I will talk to Maddie and her parents about the situation. Thank you for letting me know." The principal said.
I wanted to say "That's it?" To him, but maybe he acts like this to everybody. Maybe he'll act differently and yell at Maddie. I started imagining that and began smiling as I left the principals office.
Later on that night, I told my Dads everything. Daddy S seemed to like it.
"Good job!" Daddy S said, high-fiving me.
"We're proud of you for letting somebody know." Daddy M smiled. "Hopefully by tomorrow Maddie will apologize to you and finally leave you alone."
I smiled. I hoped so too.

Dear Diary,
I went to the principals office for the first time to tell him what Maddie has been doing to me. Hopefully he finally teaches her a lesson!

The next day, as I was dropped off at school, I headed over to the playground, where I was approached by Maddie. I thought she was going to apologize but her face told me otherwise.
"You're a weakling!" She scowled. "You think going to the principals office and telling on me made you a hero? No! It made you a weakling! You stupid head!"
All that joy, hope and happiness that was in me before suddenly exploded into sadness and shame. I've been called a weakling over telling on somebody, which I've been taught was the right thing to do.
I immediately ran over to the teachers and told them how Maddie called me weak and a stupid head. All they did to punish her was give her a warning, where if somebody else did that, they would be sent to the office.
I spent the entire day during school crying, knowing how unfairly I've been treated. The principal only made the situation much worse. Maddie is now much worse to me and the teachers seem to care less about what happens to me, especially when it happens right in front of them.

Dear Diary,
Maddie is bullying me and nobody seems to care. Even Daddy M and Daddy S can't do anything about it. I really want to be out of this school quickly.

Later on that night, Daddy M called the school complaining about Maddie to the principal. Daddy came back into the living room after the call incredibly stressed.
"What happened?" Daddy S asked.
"Apparently they're not allowed to be concerned with any situations outside of school." Daddy M explained angrily. "So this Maddie chick is basically allowed to tease our daughter for having two Dads all she wants!"
"But she called her weak and stupid after telling the principal on her during school!" Daddy S exclaimed. "Shouldn't that be something they need to control?"
"They said they would call her parents again, but they don't seem to be doing shit!" Daddy M exclaimed.
"We need to get her out of this school somehow..." Daddy S sighed.
"And how?" Daddy M asked. "We can't afford to get supplies to home school her, nor do we have the money to send her to a private school! And we can't just drop her out, she needs this education!"
"She's too young to be treated like this, Mark!" Daddy S explained. "If this keeps happening, she'll be treated like this her entire life!"
"Well, I guess the only thing we can do at this point is have her avoid Maddie as much as possible." Mark said. "Which means she has to stay inside whenever everybody else is outside."
"Mark, she needs her playtime!" Daddy S stated.
"It's either that or she has to deal with Maddie, Sean! Take your pic!" Daddy M exclaimed.
Daddy S stayed silent.

Dear Diary,
Starting today, I had to stay inside to avoid Maddie. I have to go into the library every day and sit there and read.
The bad thing about it is that I don't get to go outside at all whenever Maddie is there. The good thing is the library is nice and quiet. I should've chosen to stay here a long time ago. Also, I get double playtime outside when I'm home!
And Maddie says having two Daddies isn't cool...
