Dear Diary,

Tomorrow is my first day of middle school. I am excited to start a new chapter in my life but I'm also nervous. Middle school means changing classes and I have that fear of getting lost and not being able to prepare for my classes in time. It's all overwhelming but I know it won't be as bad, I hope. Last time I said something wouldn't be bad, I ended up being kicked out of dance class just because my parents were gay.
Speaking of my dance class, apparently May got kicked out of dance class too. Apparently the same reason I got kicked out. Even though she had a mom and a dad, she had two gay aunts and even though Mrs. Gina will probably never meet them in her life, she still couldn't take it. Apparently a bunch of people now are dropping out of classes there or just ditching classes all together in protest. That doesn't surprise me. In all honesty, Mrs. Gina deserves to have the studio go downhill with the way she's treated everybody.
All I know is that my Dads aren't letting me back there until Mrs. Gina is definitely gone!

The next day, I got up around 6:30 in the morning to get ready for middle school, which started at 8am. I quickly ate breakfast and got dressed in my outfit Daddy S chose for me while shopping. I will admit, even though I wasn't there to pick an outfit out myself, he always knows exactly what I want.

Then after getting everything packed, Daddy M went and started up the car. After going in the car, we drove off and arrived at the middle school fifteen minutes later.

Of course Daddy M parked in the parking lot and had me stand in front of the middle school sign as if it were still my first day in elementary school. And of course, when we were taking pictures, I noticed people staring at us. I kinda got uncomfortable and embarrassed, but I didn't want to say anything to upset my Dad.

"Alright, I think that's enough pictures." Daddy M stated. "You have a fantastic first day of school okay baby girl?"

I nodded and Daddy M kissed me on the forehead before I went inside of the school.

My jaw dropped at how the school was organized. The wings were divided into sections by grade. One wing was for fifth graders, one for sixth, one for seventh, and one for eighth. And each grade had their own locker color. Fifth graders had yellow, sixth graders had blue, seventh graders had red and eighth graders had green. It was pretty cool.

As soon as I entered the fifth grade wing, we were welcomed by staff members who directed us into the cafeteria, which was also in the fifth grade wing.

I looked for Ava and Kelly and found them towards the kitchen area of the cafe. I went and sat down in between them.

"Let's see our classes!" Ava said.

As we looked at our schedules, I frowned as I had no classes with either of them. But they had several classes together. We didn't even have recess or lunch together because each grade is split into two groups. Of course Ava and Kelly and ours had to be different.

"Don't be upset!" Kelly said. "You'll make friends with other people!"
"Yeah!" Ava agreed. "And we can still hang out together!"
"Hopefully..." I responded kind of bummed.

Eventually, the "opening ceremony" began and we were welcomed by the principal of the school. She basically explained the rules of middle school and how middle school works. We were eventually split up into groups and given a tour around the middle school by the upper class men. We were then split up into our recess/lunch groups for our lunch breaks.

As everybody else had friends to hang out with outside, I sat on the picnic table all alone. I really hated the recess field. All it had were three tether ball stations, some four square stations, a volleyball station and some picnic tables. In lunch, I ate by myself as well. Nobody else invited me to eat with them.

Finally, we were told to go to our first classes of the day and they would basically have us move around the school by our schedule. None of the classes I had had anybody I knew from elementary school, they were all complete strangers. I didn't even really like the teachers that much. They weren't mean or strict, but they weren't as inviting to me somehow.

Finally, the school day ended and I immediately went to the front of the school where Daddy M picked me up. I told him everything that happened in school.

"Well that's what happens in middle school, baby girl." Daddy M explained. "I promise you these next few days you'll be out of your shell and you'll make new friends."
"What if Ava and Kelly forget about me?" I asked.
"They won't forget about you." Daddy M claimed. "You just have to remember to keep in touch with them and they'll keep in touch with you."
"O-Okay..." I finally responded before we pulled up to our house.

Dear Diary,

Today I had my first day of middle school. It was more of an orientation day for us. I guess it was okay. I hate that I barely know anybody and that Ava and Kelly both have different classes than me.

I'm actually scared of middle school now.
