Dear Diary,

Two letters came into the mail today. Both of them came from Berkley and Stanford letting me know whether I made it or not! I'm so excited but also nervous. What if I somehow don't get accepted? I don't mind going to the local college but this was something I've been wanting since Sophomore year since former students came and shared their experiences! I hope I get in! Fingers crossed!

I went downstairs and Daddy M gave me the two letters with my name on it. We then went over to the island in the kitchen. My heart began racing as I looked at the first envelope. It was from Berkley University.

I took a deep breath and opened it.

My eyes widened as I read it.

Dear Emily Fischbach,

We are here to congratulate you on your acceptance into Berkley! You have met all of our criteria and more when you have submitted your form to us! If you are interested in coming to Berkley, we have also sent you several scholarships that you could be eligible for that you will have to submit to us before the end of your school year. The sooner the better!
We would like to once again congratulate you on your acceptance into Berkley and we hope you will consider joining us!

That's all I read before jumping up and down in excitement. Daddy S immediately came over and hugged me while Daddy M read the letter himself, verifying that I had been accepted before joining in on the hug.

"Hey, we've still got another letter to open!" Daddy M stated.
"What will happen if she gets accepted into Stanford too?" Daddy S asked.
"Well then, she's got some deciding to do." Daddy M responded.
"I think I know either way which school I would want to go to." I told them. "That is, if I get accepted into this one."

I then became silent and nervous again as I looked at the envelope labeled Stanford University. This was the college I wanted to go to the most. If I didn't go, I would be kinda bummed, but I wouldn't be as upset since I knew I was already accepted to another college.

I took a deep breath and opened the letter. I only skimmed the letter, but the first sentenced said it all.

We would like to inform you, Emily Fischbach, that you have met the criteria and have been accepted into Stanford University.

I began jumping up and down and cheering with my Dads again and also becoming emotional.

In less than 5 months, I would be graduating college and in less than 6 or 7 months, I would be leaving my Dads to go to Stanford.

Dear Diary,

I am officially a Stanford University, class of 2032! I registered for my fall classes and everything. It felt nerve wrecking at first having to do it by myself, but it felt pretty good too. Soon I'll have to be doing a lot of things on my own, which sounds scary, but I think I can do it!

Dear Diary,

Good news and bad news. First the bad news. May couldn't get into Stanford. The good news, she got into Berkley! Which is around 45 minutes from me! She told me she would come and visit as much as possible and during our breaks we would both go together and visit our families. It's going to be a fun time!

But... Who will be my roommates??

As I entered the school, I noticed tons of people around the bulletin board near the front office, mainly seniors. I rolled my eyes as I realized that those were the nominations for Prom King and Queen this year.

As I was trying to get through the crowd, Ava and Kelly both pulled me into the crowd.

"Emily, you need to see this!" Ava told me.
"Why?" I asked.
"Just look!" Kelly exclaimed to me.

As they pushed me through the crowd, I looked up at the posters announcing the nominations for prom king and queen. I looked over at the prom queen nominations poster first

My eyes widened and my heart raced out of my chest.

My name was on that list...

But how??
