Dear Diary,
I'm going to do something I never thought I would do, especially to Maddie. I'm going to have her sleep over at my house. I know my Dads don't like having anybody over, but I would rather have her over here than with her abusive dad.
The first thing I have to do though, is ask my Dads.
Em
---
While eating breakfast, I looked over at my Dads, who were eating their breakfast. Daddy S saw my concerned look.
"What's wrong Em?" Daddy S asked.
I was silent for a moment and then spoke.
"I-I kinda want to invite somebody over to sleep over tonight since it's Friday..." I explained.
"Who?" Daddy M asked.
"M-Maddie..." I said nervously.
My Dads then looked at each other.
"What's going on with her?" Daddy M asked.
"I don't want to say anything..." I said, suddenly feeling uncomfortable.
"Sweetie, you can tell us, we won't say a word." Daddy S promised.
I was silent again before speaking.
"Maddie has a black eye... a-and she kinda got it from her Dad..." I explained. "I just want to get her away from him..."
"Maddie's getting abused?" Daddy M asked. I nodded. "Sweetie, having a sleepover is nice and all, but if she's being abused by her Dad, then we need to call the cops!"
"No!" I exclaimed. "Maddie told me that if her Dad gets arrested, her mommy and her won't have anything left!"
"Em, that won't happen!" Daddy S explained. "There are many people out there who will help them!"
"I don't want her to get mad at me for breaking the promise..." I said.
"Sometimes promises have to be broken..." Daddy M responded.
I sighed and nodded.
"Can she still sleep over my house?" I asked.
Both of my Dads nodded. I smiled.
---
Later on that day during school, I sat next to Maddie on the benches again.
"What?" Maddie asked, looking at me.
"How would you like to sleepover my house tonight?" I asked.
"Really?" Maddie asked. I nodded.
"But... my parents know about your Dads..." Maddie explained. "And my Dad doesn't like them... If I tell them I'm sleeping over your house, he would freak out on me and..."
"C-Can you make it up?" I asked. "Maybe say you're going over somebody else's house?"
"He would know that I'm lying to him..." Maddie stated.
"Just sound like you mean it when you tell him!" I said.
"It's not that easy..." Maddie said.
"But I don't want to hear that you got beat up again!" I said. "This sleepover could help!"
"Only for a day..." Maddie responded.
"I promise you that I will make this sleepover the best night of your entire life!" I said.
Maddie thought about it for a moment, looking down as she was swinging her legs back and forth. She then looked up at me.
"Okay..." Maddie said. "I'll try..."
I smiled as I gave her the address to my house. She seemed to be getting excited when I told her everything we were going to do. I was getting excited as well.
---
Later on that night, me and my Dads were setting up for our sleepover. We had chips, dip and Cheetos set up for snacks and a pizza we ordered just got delivered.
"Now promise me you won't say anything to Maddie?" I asked.
"Promise." Both Dads responded.
Around 7pm, we heard a knock on the door. I went over and answered it, Maddie was standing there and I let her inside.
I first introduced them to my Dads, who welcomed Maddie with open arms. I then showed Maddie Chica, but Maddie became scared.
"What's wrong?" I asked.
"M-My Dad has dogs..." Maddie explained. "They don't like me very well..."
"Don't worry" I assured. "Chica's harmless! She doesn't jump or anything! She's a good dog!"
Maddie hesitated, but then reached and pet the top of Chica's head. Chica sat there calmly as she pet her. Maddie smiled.
Throughout the rest of the night, me and Maddie at our pizza, had snacks, watched some movies in the living room, and then went upstairs to dance to the music on my radio. It turns out, we both like the same kinds of music.
I then reached over onto my nightstand and grabbed my nail polish.
"Let's see how badly we can paint our nails!" I said, smiling.
Maddie laughed, knowing this probably was going to go badly. I quickly went over into the bathroom, grabbed some towels and placed them flat on the bed. I went first, messing Maddie's nails up entirely, but she was laughing and smiling, so she didn't seem to care. Maddie then did my nails, and she did pretty good with them.
"These are good Maddie!" I said.
"Thanks!" Maddie smiled. "I really want to work at a salon when I get older."
"That would be cool!" I said.
Just then, Daddy M came into the room.
"You girls still up?" Daddy M asked. "It's 11pm!"
"But it's the weekend!" I said.
"Well, don't be staying up too late." Daddy M said, closing the door.
Maddie then began unraveling her sleeping bag.
"He's right..." Maddie said. "I don't want my parents to know I stayed up too late."
"Okay..." I said.
I turned off the main light in my room, leaving only the lamp on in my nightstand.
