Dear Diary,

As I reach the last few pages of this entire book, I cannot believe the journey that got us up to this point. I have learned so much from the very first moment my family adopted me. I still can't believe that was 13 years ago. I'm leaving to go to college tomorrow!
I was such a shy child, but also encouraging and enthusiastic, as my Dads have been telling me. I couldn't have made it this far and have learned all these lessons without their love, support and advice they have given me.
So as soon as I get done with this journal, I have decided to give this diary to them as a gift for their anniversary, so they can look at all the things that I wrote and go back in time with those memories.
Daddies S and M, when you read this, I just want to say thank you for all that you have done. Without anything from you guys, I would not be the woman I am today, and I'm not even sure if I would still be at the orphanage or not if you hadn't had come in that day.
I am proud of our family and I cannot wait for our future.

Love,
Emily

I closed my diary and sighed for a moment, having finally gotten done my last journal entry in this diary ever. It does feel like only yesterday that I actually got this diary. That was ten years ago, as I became a writing addict in elementary school. You would think with how much I wrote in this journal, you would need twenty other diaries. But this was able to hold everything. From my stupid scribbles, to pictures from last events, this was my diary.

And I was going to give it to my Dads as something to remember me by while I'm away in college.

I looked around my room. It was completely empty. All my stuff was now packed in my car and ready to go. The only thing left to do now was to give my diary to my Dads.

I quickly decided to wrap it up last minute in a paper bag, since there wasn't any gift wrap around, and hide it behind my back.

As I went downstairs, I noticed Daddy M putting the last of my stuff in my car. As I looked to my right, I noticed Daddy S smiling at me.

"You okay?" I asked Daddy S.
"I just can't believe it..." Daddy S choked in emotion. "Today is the day... I never thought it would come. I never did."
"I know..." I said.

Daddy M then came back into the house and met up with the two of us.

"Everything is packed, baby girl." Daddy M told me. "You've got a long drive and a very long journey ahead of you."

I smiled, tears were forming in my eyes. I then took a deep breath and sighed.

"Before I actually go, there's something I would like to give to you." I told them.

I finally put my gift in front of me from behind my back and gave it to them. Daddy S curiously opened it. Both him and Daddy M smiled as they saw and recognized the cover.

"It's your diary!" Daddy M exclaimed. "You're giving us this?"
"I wanted to give it to you as something to remember me by." I told them.
"But what if you want to write something down about college?" Daddy S asked.
"I'll get my own journal for that, don't worry." I responded.

Daddy S and Daddy M became emotional again and they embraced me in a group hug. The group hug lasted about ten minutes, and in those ten minutes, I could hear my Dads crying and I could hear myself growing emotional as well.

"We'll miss you so much!" Daddy M cried.
"I'll miss you too." I responded.
"Just please call us when you get there, and tonight before you first go to bed, and then the next morning..." Daddy S begged. "Basically every day."
"I promise, I will." I nodded.

I looked at the time, it was 9am. I knew I had to get going before it grew too late.

But before I actually left, I knew I had to say goodbye to Chica. I went over to her and pet her and hug her as much as I could before I finally stood up and walked outside.

As I walked out of the house and went into my car, I took one last look at my house. Both of my Dads were outside, waving at me. Daddy M's arm was around Daddy S's shoulder. I gave them one more wave before I started up the car, pulled out of the driveway and drove off.

Now... My new life was officially beginning.

P.S. I know the beginning of this story said that my final diary entry was before graduating high school, but I now changed that so it makes more sense!
