The next few weeks of dance class were amazing. We continued learning new dance moves every class. Eventually, Mrs. Mary said we would be learning the routine for our recital, which would be towards the end of March around springtime, when winter dance sessions ended.
Mrs. Mary thought I was the top of the dance class. Apparently I am more advanced in dance skills than everybody else in my class. It surprised me because I have never actually taken dance classes before. Of course there were those girls in my class who thought they were #1 that were jealous of me, but I didn't care, and May liked it, so that was all that mattered.
One week, when I was ending my Wednesday class, both of my Dads were there to greet me, which was kind of weird, but I didn't argue.
"What's going on?" I asked.
"Apparently your dance teacher has scheduled a conference with us." Daddy M responded.
"Why?" I asked. "I didn't do anything wrong."
"I'm not sure either..." Daddy S shrugged.About a minute later, Mrs. Mary brought the three of us into her office and asked us to sit. My heart was pounding out of my chest, having no idea what was happening.
"W-What did I do?" I asked scared.
"Don't be afraid honey, you did nothing wrong!" Mrs. Mary smiled. "Everything you have done has been truly amazing... Which is why I have signed you up for the petite classes!"
"The Petite Group?" Daddy M asked. "Aren't they like 12-13 year olds?"
"Yes they are!" Mrs. Mary nodded.
"But she's only 9!" Daddy S said.
"Yes, we know." Mrs. Mary said. "But her dancing is much more complex for children her age, we've decided to skip the Youth Group and go straight to the Petite Group!"
"Really?" Daddy M asked, surprised.
"Yes!" Mrs. Mary nodded. "She hasn't told you anything?"
"I didn't want to sound like a professional..." I mumbled.
"Well, she dances very well for a girl her age and we highly recommend that she goes for the Petite Group! All those girls will love her!" Mrs. Mary explained.
"But what about my other classes?" I asked.
"We'll drop you out of those classes and sign you up for the Petite classes." Mrs. Mary responded.
"But May is my friend in that class..." I choked. "I don't want to leave her! She's my only friend that I've had in so long!"
"It's true..." Daddy M nodded. "She doesn't really have a friend in school."
"Oh... That's a shame..." Mrs. Mary mumbled. "I'll tell you what... I will give you until next week to decide. I will give you the opportunity to talk to May and we'll come upon a decision then, okay?"I nodded. Mrs. Mary then shook both of my Dads' hands and we left her office.

Dear Diary,
Mrs. Mary is trying to move me up to the Petite Group at dance. I really don't want to go! I want to stay with May! I'm afraid of losing her as a friend just because I'm moving to another class. I don't want to have to go through another friendship being ruined! I really won't know what to do if our friendship ends!

That Monday, I went into the studio and sat down next to May, both of us waiting for our class to begin. My heart pounding out of my chest as I looked at May, scared to see her face when I tell her.I took a deep breath and sighed.
"M-May?" I began.
"Yeah?" She responded.
"I-I might be moving to another class." I started explaining. "Mrs. Mary wants me to go into the Petite Group..."
"Really?" She asked surprised, but in a good way. I nodded. "That's awesome!"I looked at her surprised.
"I-I thought you wouldn't like it!" I said.
"I think it's awesome!" May responded. "You'll be great!"
"But I'm not gonna be in this class anymore, and I'm afraid we'll lose our friendship." I said.
"We'll make it work!" She assured, patting my back. "I'll ask my parents if we can hang out during the weekends if we don't have something!"
"That sounds good!" I smiled.Relief filled me as May was happy for me being put in the Petite Group. I couldn't stop smiling as we began our classes, which was my final class before I began being with the petite group.

Dear Diary,
I feel so happy and relieved now that I know May thinks it's awesome that I'm going to be in the petite group. This Saturday, her parents are letting me come over to hang out! I'm so excited! It's finally great to know that I have such a supportive friend!
And I can't wait to start my petite classes!
