After they leave I realize, "guys they are still covered in paint."

"They're going to get in so much trouble," Blake says.

"So will we if we don't get cleaned up," Eliza replies.

We all go to our dorms and get cleaned up. When I am done I walk out and see Ivy reading on her bed. I go and sit on mine.

The past months have been crazy. I almost killed Cole. Dating stuff happened. Sebastian died. I almost lost all my friends. A psychopath teenage girl tried to kill me. I can't keep track of everything.

I wonder if my family is worried. I just showed up at this place one day. I wonder if they are searching. What if my brother quit school to help find me? We can't afford that. He needs an education. If only one of us gets one it should be him.

"Ivy do you think my family is worried?"

"Probably not. They did have to sign  something that says they trust you with the school when they sent you here."

"They didn't send me. I just showed up one day," I say. I'm very confused.

"You can't come without your parents permission. The school doesn't ask for people with gifts. Usually when the parents find out they tell their kids, send them to the school. It's usually so they can learn but sometimes, in very few cases, it's because they are scared of their child."

They never said anything," I say.

Ivy is silent. But then she resumes talking. "Rainy, that can mean two things. Either they were scared and didn't want to tell you or," Ivy pauses, "they're dead and you have no guardian."

I can't believe it. My parents or scared of me and wanted to send me away or they're gone. My brother would be my guardian. He is older than me. Did they die? What if I killed them and don't remember it?! Was the whole island attacked?!

"Rainy," Ivy asks, "are you okay?"

I snap back into reality. My hands are wet and shaking.

"What happened?" I ask.

"You lost control of your powers."
