Haiden's POV
(One Month Twenty Two Days)
I crawled through the vents half a month after my mothers last appointment.
When I was crawling along I heard a sliding and shuffling noise from further away in the ventilation systems. I stayed and waited where I was until the noise drew closer. I realized someone else was crawling through these same vents.
My muscles instinctively tensed, ready just in case I might have to jump someone.
Finally, a shape emerged. First the light of a flashlight appeared, reflecting off of the walls of the vents, than two hands appeared, one with delicate bracelets on around it, than her face.
I smiled to myself. "Hey Angel." She jumped, clearly startled. A look of shock covered her features. I'm surprised she didn't drop the flashlight.
Suddenly her eyebrows drew towards one another and her face scrunched up in disgust. No, anger. "You prick." She mumbled as she crawled towards me and slapped my shoulder. I held in laughter, but it obviously wasn't working very well. It only angered her more. "It's not funny!" She exclaimed in a whisper, her voice was slowly rising.
"Shhh, shhh, shhhh."
"Don't shush me." She snapped. "You almost gave me a heart attack! I thought I had been caught."
I rolled my eyes. "I don't think a guard would call you Angel or show up in the vents now do you?" I winked. She rolled her eyes at me and shook her head.
"Come on Flash." She said stretching out the length of my name as long as she could. "Let's get a move on." She set her flashlight in between her teeth and continued to crawl again.
I smiled. "Of course sweetheart." I said as I crawled behind her. Suddenly she picked up her foot and kicked backwards kicking my arm once again as she has done multiple times before. I mumbled under my breath a string of swears.
She stopped and took the flashlight from her teeth as she turned her head halfway back to look at me from the corner of her eye. "Karmas a bitch isn't it?" She asked with a smirk as she continued to crawl.
I chuckled as once again I followed after.
We got to the end of the vent and I clicked my tongue at her. She groaned and moved herself to the side. I crawled by her and popped the vent cover off.
She'd surprisingly adjusted to my strange ways of doing things pretty quickly considering we'd only known one another for about twenty days, give or take.
I slid out and than turned. I extended my arms out to her. She slid forward and I reached the rest of the way back into the vent. I grabbed hold of her waist and carefully slid her out.
She was as light as a feather in my arms as I pulled her close to me and than set her down onto the table. "Stay." I kidded.
She rolled her eyes but stayed where she was. "You are so controlling aren't you?" She asked as she unwrapped the bag from around her back and set it to her side.
"Nah I think I'm pretty lenient if I do say so myself." I leaned down and picked up the vent cover.
"Ha!" She crossed her arms over her chest. "That's a real funny joke you know that." She looked down at me. "And why are you going to put the vent cover back on? You know well still have to leave right?"
