Haiden's POV
(2 Years Eight Months Nineteen Days)
I let out a sigh of relief as I watched the countdown finish and the drop ship fall to the earth.
She was safe.
Slowly I reached my hand into my pocket and felt the necklace. I gripped onto it tightly as the guards either helped the pandemics or moved out of the way of the janitorial staff.
"Who knew your parents could go and do something like that?" Connor shook his head as he clipped his gun onto his belt. "And there was girl that looked like she didn't belong but two less people breathing our air down here." He shook his head as he walked away from me.
It wasn't in the plan for Bellamy to shoot the Chancellor. He was supposed to shoot near him in order to scare him off.
He must've gotten scared. Or maybe he was too filled with adrenaline and shot him without thinking.
I wouldn't know unless I saw him again. And I knew that probably wouldn't be anytime soon.
But all I knew was that she was safe. And she would be.
The planet had to be safe enough to be on by now, so there should be nothing to worry about.
I turned, slowly removing my hand from my pocket and leaving the necklace placed inside. I slowly made my way down the hallway towards the Phoenician sector.
I hadn't been on guard duty in that sector for quite some time, but I had to tell her family. I had to let them know that she would be alright and that she wouldn't be dying in a few months.
The lights began to hum to life as the curfew was over and the day hours were to begin. I quickly picked up my pace.
My feet carried me through the familiar corridors. Past where we both went our separate ways in the janitorial closet, by the closet she used to enter the vents through, by the library where she used to get books for me to learn from and finally to the Tanners door.
I stopped, standing parallel with the door. I clipped my gun onto my belt.
I knew I was doing anything I could to put this off but I knew had to do it. Only three people know of her going down to earth. One is already there with her and the other would never even think of doing this.
I took a deep breath and slowly brought my closed fist up to the metal door with two sharp clangs.
The door hummed as it glided open and on the other side stood Mr.Tanner. He looked at me confused and then I saw the fear in his eyes. The fear that his daughter could be gone.
I shook my head at him. "May I come in?" I asked.
He nodded slowly and stepped out of the way as I entered into their home. Mrs.Tanner was cooking breakfest, as who I assumed were Maxwell and Aaron, sat at the table waiting for their meal.
They all turned to look at me as Mr.Tanner shut the door.
"Don't worry. I have what you could call good news." Mrs.Tanners eyes widened as she set down her utensils and turned away from the stove. "Please all of you, sit down." I motioned towards the table.
