Haidens POV
(Nine Months Thirty One Days)

I heard the shouts, the sound of skin slamming down onto cold medal. I heard them yelling orders to prepare a cell and get her tests ready to get all her records on file and have an updated physical.

I pressed my back against the vent and closed my eyes, my eyes felt teary again.

I left her.

I left her for them to either bring down her status or for them to float her.

I wanted to scream, to start punching walls to do something and get this anger out but I could nothing but listen and wait until they left.

I heard everything that occurred below and yet I never once heard her make a sound, utter a word. She was being strong so I could live.

The guards started to talk near the vents and something caught my attention. I moved closer to the edge, just enough so i could heard more.

"I don't think she was alone."

I guess I was taking the long way home.

Quietly I slid over and turned, making my way through the vents, concentrating on anything, the path ahead, my new position as a guard, or our shared kiss so that I would not think about the fate I sent her to.
