Book 3: TWO WORLDS: The Beginning of the End (On Going)

BDC Chapter 41

"Are you sure you want to accompany me to my friend? I can take you back to the cabin so you can rest" Baekhyun stated as soon as they went out after eating and Taeyeon shook her head with a smile while walking down the shoreline. "No.. I can handle" Taeyeon said with a smile and Baekhyun nodded his head. 
"You'll go back?" He asked and Taeyeon shook her head. "I'll come with you.." Taeyeon said and Baekhyun can't do anything but to nod his head agreeing with her. Continuing to walk, Taeyeon saw beautifully made houses and surroundings. 
"Did a tsunami really hit this place?" Taeyeon asked and Baekhyun nodded his head. "This spot isn't the one that's totally devastated" Baekhyun said and Taeyeon furrowed her brows. "Really?" She asked and Baekhyun nodded his head. Stopping infront of a random, cabin, Taeyeon saw beach vehicles parking at the side. 
"Can you drive those?" Baekhyun asked as soon as they stopped infront. Scratching her head, Taeyeon shook her head and gave Baekhyun a sheepish smile. "I can't.." Taeyeon answered and Baekhyun nodded his head. 
"We have to take one of those.. the other side of the island's quite far from here. The edge of this place, I mean" Baekhyun said and Taeyeon nodded her head. "You'll drive?" She asked and Baekhyun nodded his head and entered the cabin, soon as he got out, he has a key on hand. 
"We'll take the 4x4 motor.. are you okay with that?" Baekhyun asked and Taeyeon nodded her head. Thanking the man who assisted him, Baekhyun took the motor out and rode on it before motioning Taeyeon to hop on to. Hesitantly, Taeyeon sat behind him. Chuckling, Baekhyun took her hands and put it on his shirt. 
Gripping on it, Taeyeon looked away and they left.
Quickly arriving at the far end of the island, Taeyeon saw wrecked houses, wrecked boats. Some fallen trees that wasn't removed yet, boats that are washed up in the shore and a whole lot more that symbolizes a big tragedy. Stopping the motor, Baekhyun was about to get off when he felt the grip on his shirt tightened. 
"Is this a bit too much see?" Baekhyun asked worriedly and Taeyeon, upon realizing the that she's been holding on Baekhyun's shirt for too long let go and got off the motor. "I-It's.. just.." Taeyeon answered while looking around. It looked like a ghost town to her and she can't see not even a single person there. 
"Just that?" Baekhyun asked as soon as he got off the vehicle and approached her. "Are there still people alive? By the looks of it--" Taeyeon said and Baekhyun sighed as he noded his head with a sad expression on.
"There are.. but not lots of. Everyone's traumatized too" Baekhyun said and Taeyeon nodded her head. "Where are they?" Taeyeon asked and Baekhyun took her hand as they walked to a nearby open hut and saw some people gathering in there with a group that looks like volunteers. 
"Baekhyun!"
They both heard a voice and soon, a man who seemed to be wearing a white coat walked to them with a smile. 
He must be a doctor, Taeyeon thought. 
"Hyung" Baekhyun said with a smile as he let go of Taeyeon's hand and walked towards the man and hugged him while patting his back and Baekhyun did the same. "Thank you for coming here" The man said as he turned and saw Taeyeon standing just a little bit behind Baekhyun.
"Your friend?" The man asked with a tone of disbelief in his voice and Baekhyun gave him a 'stop it' look. "Yes, she's my classmate and we're doing a project together" Baekhyun explained as he took Taeyeon's hand and pulled her to him causing the man to smile a little.
"She's Kim Taeyeon.. Taeyeon, this is my friend.. Kangta hyung" Baekhyun said and Taeyeon bowed before smiling a little, Kangta did the same too. "Nice to meet you" Kangta said as he offered a hand to Taeyeon and the latter did the same too. 
"Nice to meet you too" Taeyeon said and Kangta smiled. "So hyung.. how are your patients?" Baekhyun asked as he looked around and noticed people doing treatment. Of course, headed by Kangta and his medical team. 
"They're still under traumatic treatment.. some of them are starting to recover, fully recovered and some are still in the worse stage" Kangta said then he sighed and shook his head causing Baekhyun to frown. "I thought everyone's doing good already?" Baekhyun asked worriedly. 
"Almost.. there's just this kid whom we're still trying to help. She's the only one who had been traumatized so much that when she sees water, she freaks out" Kangta said and Baekhyun furrowed his brows. "The others?" He asked. 
"The others are doing well.. they're starting to recover and as what I've said some are still in the worse stage and when I said some, I was talking about that little girl" Kangta explained and Baekhyun sighed before shaking his head. 
"But I'm thankful.. that you and your dad donates money for this charity" Kangta said and Baekhyun was about to stop him from saying so and revealing what he does but Kangta already did causing him to shut his mouth again. Taeyeon on the other hand, upon hearing this turned to look at Baekhyun with a small smile on her face. 
She thought, after all, Baekhyun still cares for people even when they're a complete stranger to him.
"It's.. It's not like it's a big deal right?" Baekhyun asked awkwardly as he scratched his nape.
"It is.. You remember that day when I told you that we're going to stop the treatment and therapy here right because the sponsors backed out? Then.. you said you'll handle it as long as you can" Kangta said with a big smile on his face and Baekhyun smiled awkwardly.
He doesn't really like it that way, getting known just because he did something good. He'd rather choose to keep it a secret than to let anyone know. 
That's how kind he is.
"Y-Yeah. I remember" Baekhyun said and Kangta smiled as he patted Baekhyun's shoulder. "I'm thankful" He said and this time Baekhyun smiled warmly and nodded his head. "I'm thankful too.." Baekhyun said and Kangta nodded. 
"By the way.. you're here for your school project right?" Kangta asked. "Yes.." Baekhyun answered. 
"I'll go talk to a member of my team to guide you will you be okay with that?" Kangta asked. "I don't want to disturb you or your team hyung. Just tell me who can we talk to here and we'll be good" Baekhyun said with a reassuring smile and Kangta nodded his head. 
"You'll be good?" Kangta asked and Baekhyun nodded his head before giving him a thumbs up. 
"Well then.. I'll get the list of the patients who just finished the therapy. I'll be back alright?" Kangta said and Baekhyun nodded his head. "Sure thing hyung" Baekhyun answered and Kangta patted his shoulder before leaving. 
"We can do the project" He told with a smile. 
"Can I.. ask for something?" Taeyeon asked unsure.
"What is it?" Baekhyun asked. 
"Can I.. meet that child? The one with the worst condition"
