"Goodbye? Why?" Yoona asked. Surprised.
"It's my choice. I need to start anew. my life's different now and I don't think staying here and making me remember what I used to be will help me. It's not like I mind, but I want to reset. Make things my way.. live without burdens anymore" Taeyeon explained with a small smile on her face. Baekhyun just watched them with a blank face on the other hand, he doesn't Taeyeon to show that he's been hurting. No, he doesn't have any reasons. He just want to.
"I know and I understand. You've been wanting all these and I won't stop you.. but you won't leae Korea right?" Yoona asked afraid that taeyeon might really go far away. Shaking her head, Taeyeon smiled and shook her head. "No.. as far as I know dad's work is here so he'll stay here and so am I" Taeyeon said.
"I can still visit you right? We can still visit you right?" Yoona asked, the second question pertaining to the two. "Of course.. you're always welcome at home" Taeyeon sincerely said. Glancing at Baekhyun, Taeyeon gave him a small smile and Yoona noticed it.
"Can I talk to you in private?" Yoona asked loud enough for the two guys to hear. "O-Of course" Taeyeon said with a hint of confusion right after seeing Yoona eyed to two and mouthed them something that she can't understand. Following her friend at the end of the hallways, Taeyeon stopped as soon as Yoona did.
"What do you want to talk about that you even want it to be private?" Taeyeon asked curiously. "Kai and Baekhyun got into a fight earlier. I know it's out of your business already but can you please, just please ask Baekhyun to participate in the singing competition? Our homeroom teacher asked him to represent the class and it's all because Kai told her that Baekhyun sings, Baekhyu doesn't want to do it on the other hand and blamed Kai for meddling with his business" Yoona said while looking at Taeyeon with an unsure look and Taeyeon sighed.
"They fought?" Taeyeon asked. "Well.. they didn't hit each other but they shouted right at each other's faces especially Baekhyun. He seemed to be pretty worked up about it, I understand though. He's hu--"
"Hurt, I know" Taeyeon continued then sighed. "Alright.. I'll talk to him and maybe convince him to go. Happy?" Taeyeon asked and Yoona nodded her head and hugged her friend. "Thank you" Yoona said and Taeyeon shook her head and light patted Yoona's arm.
"It's alright" Taeyeon said and pulled Yoona to go back to the two who seemed to be sending each other daggers with their eyes. "Kai.. let's talk" Yoona said and before Kai can react Yoona already dragged him away from the two leaving them in awkward silence.
Taeyeon on the other hand took her phone out and messaged her father that's still inside the administration room telling the old man that she might take a while outside and if he can handle the things for her papers. Having no reply, Taeyeon pocketed her phone back and turned her eyes and attention to Baekhyun.
"Can we talk?" Taeyeon asked and Baekhyun silently nodded his head. Walking up the stairs nearby, Taeyeon took a seat on the other side and Baekhyun on the opposite. "I heard you and Kai fought" Taeyeon spoke up while looking down the stairs.
"It's nothing.. just some childish fight" Baekhyun answered leaning his head on the wall beside him with his eyes to the front too. "I heard from Yoona that it's because you were chosen to represent the class in some competition right? But you don't want to do and because of Kai, you were kind of, forced to" Taeyeon said turning her head sideway and looking at him.
Letting out a sigh, Baekhyun chuckled. "So you knew.." Baekhyun answered still not looking at her afraid that he might just beg her to stay again. No, he doesn't want that to happen, once is enough, it already scarred him too much.
"Yoona told me.." Taeyeon answered. "It's nothing.. really" Baekhyun answered.
"It's like it's going to hurt if you try right?" Taeyeon asked with a small smile and Baekhyun chuckled bitterly. "It already hurts" He mumbled but Taeyeon managed to hear it. "Look--" Taeyeon said but then stopped when Baekhyun talked again.
"I'll do it. If that's what you want" Baekhyun said and Taeyeon smiled a little and nodded her head. "But one thing.." Baekhyun said causing Taeyeon to look at him. "What.. is it" Taeyeon asked with a hint of fear from her voice and Baekhyun knew, he exactly knew what she's afraid of.
Of them getting back together. That's what she's afraid of.
"I need you there" Baekhyun said before standing up causing Taeyeon to look up. Walking down the stairs, Baekhyun stopped when he reached the last step of the stairs, he gave her a small smile as he put his hands on his pocket. "I need to see you there" He said and left without even hearing her words.
Letting out a sigh, Taeyeon walked down the stairs too and watched as Baekhyun walked down the hallway without even looking back. It's not like he's going take no as an answer, Taeyeon thought.
"The school said that it'll take two weeks before they can release the papers since they have to take further steps about your withdrawal papers but don't worry. I already found a good school for you not far from where our house is so you don't have to worry. Heechul's handling your enrollment at the driving school too" Mr. Kim told his daughter with his eyes focused on the road but it seems like Taeyeon's not listening to him. Glancing at her, Taeyeon's father noticed that Taeyeon's looking out of the window.
Seemingly in deep thoughts. "Something wrong?" Mr. Kim asked and Taeyeon tore her gaze off the window and smiled a little. "I'm sleepy" Taeyeon said and Mr. Kim chuckled.
"Alright.. take a sleep first. I'll wake you up when we're home"
Two weeks prior to the competition, Taeyeon's paper will be released the same day as the competition too. Being deep in her thoughts for the whole two weeks, Taeyeon doesn't know what to do anymore, her dad's barely home the past few days, Yoona's busy with school too and all that's left is Boa, as far as she remembers.
Getting up from her bed. Taeyeon changed her clothes and decided to visit the older girl. It was already time for the closing when Taeyeon arrived, lucky she's still an hour earlier so technically, she have an hour left. Letting out a deep breath, Taeyeon walked towards the door and pushed it open.
"Goodevening"
Boa's familiar voice greeted her. "Hi boss" Taeyeon greeted and Boa's head immediately turned to her.
"TAEYEON!"
Boa said with her loud voie causing the few customer inside the cafe turned their heads to her but the latter doesn't care as she went out of the counter and ran to Taeyeon engulfing her into a tight hug. "I've missed you!" Boa said before pusing Taeyeon a little and looking at her up and down.
"I've missed you too unnie" Taeyeon said and Boa smiled. "He's here" Boa whispered into Taeyeon's ear causing the latter to furrow her brows. "Who?" Taeyeon asked and Boa turned her head towars the farthest corner of the cafre and there, she spotted Baekhyun seating with papers on his hand and earphone plugged in his ears.
"I should go" Taeyeon said but Boa held her hand tight and dragged her towards the corner where Baekhyun is seating. "Unnie" Taeyeon pleaded but too late, Boa already stopped infront of Baekhyun's table. Noticing th presence there, Baekhyun looked up only to freeze when he saw Taeyeon standing beside Boa who has a grin visible on her face.
"Accompany her for a while. I'll be back" Boa said and before he knew it, Boa already pushed Taeyeon down the chair infront of him and left. "What took you here?" Baekhyun asked as soon as Boa left. "I wanted to pay her visit" Taeyeon said and Baekhyun nodded his head before returning his attention back on the papers again.
"Oh.. the comepetition's in two weeks from now. I hope to see you there" Baekhyun said putting the papers down but made sure that Taeyeon did not see it. "I will.." Taeyeon answered before glancing at the paper he's holding earlier. "They're the lyrics of the song I'll sing" Baekhyun answered noticing her.
"Can I see it?" Taeyeon asked and Baekhyun smiled a little and shook his head. "You have to come and watch me sing first" Baekhyun said and Taeyeon nodded her head. Soon, Boa came back and Baekhyun compiled his papers, aligned it all properly and stood up.
"I'll leave. Have a good night" Baekhyun said and before Boa can react, he already made his way out of the cafe. "What's with him?" Boa asked in confusion. "I dont know" Taeyeon answered before shrugging her shoulders. Taking a seat infront of Taeyeon, Bo placed th latte's she made on the table and sighewd.
"Are you two still fighting?" Boa asked and Taeyeon raised her brows. "You two?" Boa asked again and Taeyeon shook her head. "No.. unnie. We're not fighting" Taeyeon answered and Boa furrowed her brows. "But why is it so awkward between the two of you?" Boa asked and Taeyeon sighed.
"I don't know unnie. Maybe because we're still at the moving on phase?" Taeyeon asked in hesitance. "So you two decided to offcially call it off and be jsut friends instead?" Boa asked and Taeyeon nodded her head weakly. "I thought thw two of you will really end up together.. for life" Boa said with a sad smile visible on her face.
"Maybe it's because we're not really meant to be together"
2 weeks later..
Competition day.. Taeyeon's release of withdrawal papers from school.
Everything's still a mess.
Everything's still a blur.
"Taeyeon-ah!" Yoona called as soon as she Taeyeon walked towards the school gates. Smiling at her, Taeyeon waved ehr hand and Yoona's eyes widened when she saw someone walking beside Taeyeon. "Nayeon!" Yoona called and ran towards them engulfing the little girl first.
"I seriously can't believe that you'll do that" Taeyeon said as soon as Yoona pulled out from Nayeon's hug. "I missed you two you know.." Yoona said before engulfing Taeyeon into a hug too. "Umma.. where is appa?" Nayeon asked and Taeyeon smiled a little.
"He's already preparing.. let's go and wait for him?" Taeyeon asked and Nayeon nodded her head. "Let's go. I reserved a seat for you in the front row" Yoona said dragging Taeyeon with her causing Nayeon to be dragged too. Settling themselves at the front seat, Taeyeon greeted Kai and so as Nayeon.
"Umma.. where's appa?" Nayeon asked again when another student went out of the stage and performed. "He'll come out soon.. let's wait shall we?" Taeyeon asked and Nayeon nodded her head.
On the other hand..
Baekhyun took deep breaths as the next representative was called. He's next and he's shaking, he doesn't know what to do. What if Taeyeon's there? What if she's not there? What if's filled her mind and he can't think straight until he felt a sudden tap on his shoulder.Turningaround, he saw Kai standing with a small smile on his face.
"She's there.. you can do it" Kai said and Baekhyun took a deep breath and nodded his head. Looking at the stage, he heard his name being called. Nervously, Baekhyun went upstage and the crowd went wild, why wouldn't they when Baekhyun's known all over the campus and singing infront of crowds is not really his thing.
Walking towards the piano set aside, Baekhyun glanced at the crowd and saw someone waving at him. Taking a closer look, he saw nayeon giving him a bright smile while waving her arms. Smiling back, Baekhyun gave her a thumbs up before seating by the piano.
Glancing at Taeyeon who's looking at him expectantly, Baekhyun took a deep breath as his fingers pressed the keys.

Standing up, Baekhyun looked at Taeyeon and their eyes locked. Giving the wild crowd a bow, Baekhyun walked back stage and leaned his back on the wall as tears escaped his eyes. He felt like he's suffocating, just be seeing her there, watching him. Their so close but their hearts are so far, is he really ready to let her go?
That's what he's thinking.
Getting called up the stage again, the representatives gather and the winner is announced. Standing there, while looking at his friends, Baekhyun furrowed his brows when one of the judges went to him and handed him the trophy. "You won" His homeroom teacher said and Baekhyun could only look at his trophy in disbelief.
The crowd's noise made him unable to hear what the people aroud him say making him nod his head while talking to them. Walking backstage, Baekhyun stared at the trophy and before he knew it everyone had gone back home as the event ended. Going out, he saw Kai and Yoona standing with Nayeon and Taeyeon.
Noticing him, Nayeon ran towards Baekhyun and hugged him. "Appa congratulations!" Nayeon said and Baekhyun smiled before lowering himself to Nayeon's level and patting the little girl's head. "Thank you" He said before standing up again.
Walking towards his friends, Yoona took Nayeon with her and Kai and bid the two goodbye telling them that they'll be the one to return Nayeon back a the medical center. Being left at the school ground, the two sood in awkwardness. "Uhh.. congratualations" Taeyeon said and Baekhyun nodded his head.
"Thank you for coming here" Baekhyun sincerely said. "It's not a big deal" Taeyeon answered. "It is.. for me" Baekhyun said and Taeyeon went silent. "You really should stop--"
"What if I tell you that I can't? What I tell you that I tried and failed?" Baekhyun asked with tears brimming. "I'm trying too. Don't make it too hard on yourself" Taeyeon said and Baekhyun sighed. "I'm not.. what are you really afraid of? I know you still love me just the way I do but what's holding you back?" Baekhyun asked with a hint of anger and pain.
"There's nothing holding me back" Taeyeon answered flatly. "Then why are you running away from me? Why do you want to be away from me?" Baekhyun asked and Taeyeon went silent. She wanted to be with him too but she's afraid, she's afraid of what? Of getting hurt?
She doesn't know.
"I still love you.. why can't you just.. why can't you just give me another chance to prove that I mean it?" Baekhyun asked taking a step forward and Taeyeon took a step back on the other hand. "We're not really meant for each other. We're better off as friends" taeyeon answered calmly.
"Who said so?!" Baekhyun asked finally bursting out. "Do you think it's.. it's easy for me seeing you so close to me but knowing that your heart's far?" Baekhyun asked with his voice turning into a weak one. "I hate it.. I hate being away with you" He said as tears finally escaped his eyes.
Taeyeon tried not to cry too but as soon as she blinked her eyes, tears flowed out.
"I'm sorry.." Taeyeon said.
"Then why can't you give us a chance again?" Baekhyun asked.
"Because I'm leaving" She answered. "What?" Baekhyun asked not knowing what she meant.
"Dad decided to build a business overseas. He's taking me with him, I'll live there, stay there and study there. I might never come back" taeyeon answered and Baekhyun stood there. No words coming out of his mouth.
"That's why I'm telling you. It's not gonna work anymore, forget me and I'll forget you too"
