"So.. I'll take you back now? It's getting late your father might be looking for you" Baekhyun said as soon as Taeyeon managed to get down to the jetti from the yacht. Giving him a small smile Taeyeon shook her head, kindly refusing his offer. "It's alright. It's not like I have curfer hours anyway, and dad asked me to buy something so I think I'll be heading at the night market" Taeyeon said and Baekhyun nodded his head.
"I'll company you then" Baekhyun offered trying to have more time with her. "You should stop doing this.. three days more and the school resumes back. I'm sorry but I'm planning to never return, maybe you should stop seeing me too. It's not like I despise you or what, but I can see that you still.. that you still hope for us to get back together. Believe me.. I would be lying if I say no but let's just be friends. We're better off that way" Taeyeon said with a smile and tears gathered on Baekhyun's eyes upon hearing her sudden statement, it hurted him more than what he expected.
"B-But.."
"Please? Can you do that? I'm sorry if I'm hurting now, trust me, I'm not doing this to get back at you but it's hard for me too. I don't want to make the same mistakes I've done neither I want to live with my past. I want to live my life so please? Let's just be friends" Taeyeon begged. Yes, she begged. She can't take seeing him hope for something that she can never give anymore.
"D-Does.. that mean I have to stop seeing you too?" Baekhyun asked as tears flowed down his cheeks. "No.. of course not. We'll be friends, I know this will hurt us both a bit but let's see where this friendship leads us alright? I don't want to repeat those mistakes anymore" Taeyeon said while looking at him apologetically and Baekhyun can't do anything but to nod his head.
"You'll find someone better than me out  there.. trust me" Taeyeon said with a smile and Baekhyun chuckled bitterly. "How can I find someone better than you when you're nothing but perfection?" Baekhyun asked while tears still flowed down his cheeks causing Taeyeon to sigh and shake her head.
"hey.. I'm not perfect. Soon, you'll move on.. try to" Taeyeon said and Baekhyun took a deep breath and nodded his head. "I guess this is goodbye then.. I don't think it's still good for me to stay here. I'll give you time.. let's.. just..be.. friends" Baekhyun said although it's hard for him saying those words.
"Of course.. when you go back to school can you meet with Yoona and talk to her? Send her my regards too" Taeyeon said and Baekhyun furrowed his brows wondering why Taeyeon would give Yoona regards. Regards of what? He thought.
"Regards? About what?" Baekhyun asked. "Didn't Kai.. told you?" Taeyeon asked and Baekhyun shook his head still not having any idea of what Taeyeon is talking about. "Told me about what?" Baekhyun asked and Taeyeon smiled a little.
"They're fine now.. the two reconciled" Taeyeon said with a smile but the second she said it, she felt a bit of regret right after seeing Baekhyun's face. "Glad for them.. Kai's really lucky.. to have Yoona back.. he's lucky" Baekhyun said and Taeyeon opened and closed her mouth without any sounds, she doesn't know what to say but then she feels bad for already telling him when they're in a situation that isn't suppose to have a conversation like that.
"Baekhyun-ah.."
"It's alright.. I'll get going now" Baekhyun said and walked past her. Standing there alone, Taeyeon covered her face with both of her hands and cried. She kenw she had hurted him but she thinks that it's the best for them. After all, she knew that if she doesn't push Baekhyun away, he wouldn't go back home.
Worse, he'll keep hoping for something more from her.
Shaking her head, Taeyeon wiped her tears away and started to walk back home.
At the day of the resuming of classes..
"Baekhyun-ah!!!" Kai shouted happily as soon as he saw Baekhyun getting out of his car. Letting go of his girlfriend's hand running towards him in a flash, Kai engulfed his best friend into a tight hug. "Get off you rascal" Baekhyun said hitting Kai's head causing him to pout.
"You didn't miss me" Kai sulked causing Baekhyun to almost puke. "I didn't.. so get off me" Baekhyun said coldly and Kai furrowed his brows. "It's the first day of school and you're already grumpy by the way where's Taeyeon?" Kai asked oblivious to the fact that Baekhyun still hasn't got over from Taeyeon's words a few days before.
"She's not coming back" Baekhyun said coldly. "What?" Yoona asked now approaching the two. "She said.. she's not coming back and wants to send regards to the two of you" Baekhyun said as he faked a smile. Looking back at his girlfriend, Kai furrowed his brows.
"Regards?" Kai asked in confusion. "Yeah.. you two got back together didn't you?" Baekhyun asked while still faking a smile. No, it's not like he doens't like the two getting back together but it's about him hurting at the fact that he and Taeyeon can never be together again.
"How'd you know?" Kai asked. "Taeyeon told you didn't she?" Yoona asked and Baekhyun nodded his head. "Congratulations" Baekhyun said and Kai smiled weakly.
"Hey.. it's alri--"
"It's never going to be alright Kai. She doesn't want me anymore" Baekhyun said while trying to give them a smile but no matter how much he tries he just can't. "No.." yoona said and Baekhyun gave her a weak smile before shaking his head.
"He said that it's better if we stay as friends" Baekhyun said with tears threatening to fall. "and you just agreed?" Kai asked raising his voice causing Baekhyun to sigh. "It's not like I want to.. but it's the only way to keep her by my side" Baekhyun answered and Kai shook his head.
"Glad I saw you here Baekhyun" The three turned their heads to where the voice came from and saw their homeroom teacher. Giving each other confused glances, Baekhyun approached their homeroom teacher and gave her a bow.
"Is there anything you need from me?" Baekhyun asked and his teacher shook her head. "No.. but I chose you as our class representative in the upcoming school singing competition. I won't take no as an answer, you really do have a good voice" His homeroom teacher said and Baekhyun furrowed his brows, he doesn't recall anything about his teacher hearing him sing.
"But.. how'd you know?" Baekhyun asked and heard a cough behind him. Turning around, he saw Kai looking away trying to act innocent, Shaking his head, he gave his teacher a small nod.
"It's not like I have any choice here right?"
