1002 in Southern France

All five Mikaelson's stepped into the beautifully decorated room. Rebekah was the first to look up in awe of the crystal chandelier which reflected light upon the tens of hundreds of noblemen and women who danced among each other.

"Would you stop looking up" the man called Lucien cut them all of quickly and sharply, he was to teach them how to blend in with the crowds in order to rouse the count into thinking they were the children of his good friend.

"Touch me again, and I'll tear your arm straight off" Kol Leant in and whispered in Lucien's ear, sending unwanted shivers up his spine and leaving him cold.

"Behave, Kol, or I'll bury you in the ground to rot" Finn retaliated to his younger brother's words.

"This isn't going to work, is it?" Rebekah looked down at her shimmering blue gown, she had never worn anything so delicate in her life. She then passed a large mirror attached to the wall and upon seeing her reflection, she reminded herself how out of place she looked.

"Just speak as we practiced" Lucien acknowledged her worry "and know that you look lovely, my lady"

In another part of the conversation, Niklaus turned to Elijah "are you worried, brother?" He asked quietly, unsure if it was the correct decision keeping the boy alive.

"We're placing our lives in the hands of a stranger, Niklaus" Elijah kept his gaze forward as he walked yet aimed his reply towards his brother.

It was at that point when the six of them finally stopped at the Count's throne.

"Lucien, you were sent to fetch the Count de Guise" the grey haired man stood up and looked closer at the five who squirmed.

"Indisposed, your grace. Gout. May I present his children? The Lords Finn, Niklaus, Elijah, and Kol. Also, the lovely Lady Rebekah" Lucien quickly used his best excuse and introduced them all.

The count squinted his eyes on suspicion, looking individually at them all for a longer amount of time. "your father never mentioned you to me in all of our dealings" he spoke once more

"Yes. Your grace, do forgive us. Uh, father was forever distant with his travels, and, uh, we were largely raised by servants. However, I do know that father would consider it a glorious honor that we should be introduced to society by your noble hand, your grace" Elijah quickly began speaking as if he were already a member of the highest society; he spoke with so much confidence that it almost surprised his family. Almost.

"Your grace, I look forward to hearing tales of your hunting escapades" Niklaus added, trying to suck up and hoping it would work. But the Count became more and more suspicious of them all. "May I present our sister?" He said in a blind panic.

Rebekah shot an evil glance towards her brother before stepping forwards to curtesy "Rebekah De Guise de Rochefort en Seine. Charmed"

The count stared at Rebekah's chest as she bent over, a smirk among her lips as she knew she had been the one to sway the count in their favour.

Elijah could finally breathe when they walked away into the party, finally they had gotten through the barriers and were well on their way to safety.

"What now, brother?" Rebekah asked him timidly, still shaken up from the amount of acting they had to do.

"Enjoy the party" Elijah instructed her "make yourself known, for we will be here for a while"

"Is that your agenda too? Or do you have something different on your mind?" Rebekah could always tell when Elijah had something to do, the determination on his face had been obvious since they stepped into the room.

"I'll be doing the same, only I'm in search of a witch to help us block our father's witches locator spells. They will not be able to find us if we act quickly" he explained

"From our journey into the town, I doubt there will be many witches at our disposal" Rebekah referred to the long journey through the slums and villages, where they saw women being burnt alive in witch trials. "The screams still haunt my thoughts"

"I might have hoped due to the painful circumstances, some might have adapted and interpreted themselves into a magic less society; we might walk among them with no knowledge, I hope to find someone tonight" Elijah explained, scanning the room and watching how the crowd split like an ocean.

The two joined with Niklaus and Lucien, who had been engrossed in a conversation of their own.

"Who are they?" Klaus directed his gaze to the three people walking through the path.

"Oh. They're the count's children, the lord Tristan and his sister the lady Aurora." He motioned to the tall brunette man and the younger fiery haired girl who walked beside each other.

"She's exquisite" Klaus stared at Aurora for most of the time.

"Who is the other girl beside him?" Elijah didn't really acknowledge the others, there was something about the curly haired, brunette girl that intrigued him.

"That is Lady Marianne Auclaire, fiancée of Tristan" Lucien informed him. The girl held herself with confidence as she smiled at all of the faces staring at her.

Her head then turned and looked in Elijah's direction, lingering for a moment as she felt something different in him. Tristan took her hand and pulled her along.

Rebekah tugged at Elijah's sleeve to get his attention "Elijah, are you thinking what I am thinking?" She asked as she also felt the same vibe from her presence.

He turned and nodded his head discreetly "I believe I do"
