"She is completely out of her mind in paranoia and fear" Elijah spoke to his sister downstairs just after the sun had risen "I fear for her sanity"

"She maybe a witch but she still is only mortal, Elijah" Rebekah fought her case "there was a reason why we did not take any humans along with us on our travels, it messes with their minds"

"I thought she would have handled it better" Elijah admitted "but there has been a significant change in her"

"She is mortal, she needs a steady life, somewhere where she doesn't have to move or be paranoid" Rebekah told him "it is what I have always wanted, but I can handle it, my life will be forever and one day I can have that. Her life is short..."

"What am I supposed to do?" Elijah shook his head, biting his lip to stop his anger and worry from making a scene "drop her off somewhere and compel her to forget everything? I do not want to live without her"

"You do not have to, brother" Rebekah was trying to avoid this conversation, but even she had seen the deterioration of Elijah's love these past few weeks, it was killing her "look, take her out today and tell her that you will take her away from here, and I will talk to our brothers and make them okay. As we run, father will chase us leaving you two alone and when her life comes to an end, then you can come back to us"

"I could never leave my family" Elijah told Rebekah; he couldn't, he had been through so much with them.

"Right now I don't think you have a choice..." Rebekah retaliated as Marianne walked into the room, fully dressed and ready to go out.

"I am ready to go, if you are" she brushed her hair behind her back as she walked forward.

"Then, we shall go" Elijah stood from his chair and held his hand out to take hers. Rebekah raised her eyebrows and gave him a specific look, did Elijah want her to talk to their brothers? Was it an idea he wanted?

Elijah looked at Marianne, who was straightening the skirt of her dress out. He nodded his head slightly, in return, Rebekah stood up and slid something into his inner pocket.

Elijah knew what it was, and he wasn't so shocked about it either. He had been having thoughts from the past few weeks and maybe now he is on the fence about leaving with her, he could finally take the leap.

"You two have a good day" Rebekah smiled as if nothing had just happened.

Marianne mirrored her smile "I hope to" she thought today might be the day everything finally changed, for the better.

She stepped out into the living room, where the floorboards creaked beneath her feet. Marianne's gaze fell down to where her foot stood, over a very familiar and unique shaped crack in the unusual coloured floorboard. Her heart began to race, this was the room in which her visions had taken place, and she couldn't wait to get out.

She dragged Elijah outside, deciding against taking the carriage into town. Right now, she didn't trust anybody other than the Mikaelson's.

"We'll take the forest route" she pointed, it was somewhere quiet and isolated.

They walked and walked, Marianne regretting her decision because they were 1)a long walk away from
Home and 2) unfathomably lost.

Elijah had begun to laugh. "What is so funny?" She asked him, his laugh being contagious and making her giggle.

"We have no idea whereabouts we are" Elijah chuckled

"Well you have enhanced senses, you can obviously find our way to civilisation or at least back home" Marianne observers "what are you waiting for?"

Elijah looked out into the distance, thy had stopped by a flowing river, it was so serene and for the first time in a while, he could see her troubles melt away.

"Sit with me, right here" he said, lowering himself to the floor.

"Here?" She asked "I happen to like this dress, thank you very much"

Elijah slid off his suit jacket, lying it straight on the floor. "As I said" he smiled smugly at her "sit"

Marianne lifted her skirt slightly and sat on Elijah's jacket. "Happy?" She asked

"I am now" he returned. "I have something to tell you, well, it is more of a proposition really"

"I am listening" she looked at him as her fingers lifted leaves from the floor to fiddle with

"Move out of town with me" he said, not wanting to beat around the bush "just you, and me, no more running, no more panicking"

"Elijah..." Her lips parted as she breathed his name "I cannot allow you to do that, I cannot split you from your family"

"You will not be splitting me from my family" he grasped hold of her hand, making her drop the leaf that she held "this is my choice; Rebekah is speaking to my brothers now, and it is no permanent, if things go wrong we can always go back"

Marianne shook her head, the plan did sound great, she could have a home and Elijah, something she had always wanted. She could have consistency and she didn't have to worry anymore. But even from the beginning, she knew she could not split him away from his family. It was not fair, especially only for her benefit.

"I enjoy being with your family" she tried to find the positives of being on the run "and I get to see all these different places"

Elijah wasn't convinced in the slightest. "Marianne, I know you..." He sighed. His hand finding its way to his inner pocket and scooping up what lay in there. "... Maybe this will change your mind"

She raised an eyebrow, his voice complimenting the soft waves of the river that sounded in the background. The moment was perfect and if they could stay here forever, she'd agree.

Elijah didn't really think through what he would say, he just hoped the words would come to him naturally. "Every morning, we get a chance to be different, a chance to change and be better. Our past is in our past and we need to leave it where it is, and now we can focus on our future"

Marianne saw him digging in his pocket to retrieve something. She tilted her head as to what he was about to do.

"My mother's ring" he labelled it as he dragged it out, it was a very delicate and had a clear crystal in the middle. It was very simple but very elegant "it is yours, if you answer my next question correctly..."

Marianne nodded, her eyes widening at the sight of Elijah holding a ring. Was it even possible for vampires to... She stopped her thoughts as solely focussed on his words.

"I cannot give you children or a normal life, but I can try and give you one where you are happy, we will move and I will not take no for an answer, no matter what you say to this"

"Marianne Auclaire" he took a deep breath in "will you do me the honour of ..."

"Yes" she shouted.

"Being my bride" he finished, smiling at her very early answer.

"Yes"
