"When my mother was alive; she told
Me that the spells I created were very strong" Marianne looked up at Elijah as she lifted the viles of blood she had collected from each family member.
It was later on in the night. When they had formed their alliance, Marianne had to return to her soon to be husband to reduce his suspicion. So, later on she snuck back outside and met up with Elijah, alone.
"It looks very intricate" Elijah watched how her spells differed from his mothers.
"Well; I needed something to stop my younger brother from imitating them, he always did them wrong and ended up causing trouble" she laughed to herself "I made it almost impossible for him to copy my spells"
She looked down as she dropped Rosemary into the concoction and hovered a small bit of Labelia flower over it.
"You care for your brother deeply, I can see it" Elijah sat opposite her, watching how the light of the candle light up half her face.
"I could not name a time I had been so scared apart from the time those men broke in to our house" she glanced up and then back down "I never run, but that's all I could think of doing, so I'm making up for those years ago. When I get him out, when I've completed what I came to do, then I'll take him somewhere safe for people like us"
"I will help you find him; you have my word on that" he rested his hand on hers and urged the importance of it.
"Let's hope your word means well" she forced a small smile and looked in his eyes before quickly looking away "The elixir is finished; it'll take a few hours to spread around the veins, I've not found a way around that as of yet"
Marianne lifted the bowl and outed equal amounts into five chalices. It was an odd colour for a potion, it glowed an opaque lilac with mist overflowing the glasses.
"Where is the door located?" Elijah asked, awaiting his family to arrive so they can drink together.
"By the north tower, there are a few stairs going down behind the library, but guards are always by it and they are beginning to suspect I'm up to something; so I am very unsure of how anybody will get there" she explained "my plan was to marry him and then bring the subject up, he cannot keep anything from his wife, of course"
The plan took a lot of determination to carry out; Elijah did have to applaud her on that. It was long term and very dedicated.
"Don't you miss your freedom?" He asked her; because Elijah sure did miss his, though she had a choice in the matter and he had never had that choice.
Marianne nodded her head slightly, rising from her seat and walking over to the window. "I believe All freedom comes with a price, I had my first few years of freedom, freedom to do magic and to just be" Marianne looked straight out onto the city, where faint lights from candles glowed together "those years had come with a lifelong price, but I'm willing to condemn myself to months of suffering with him to finally have the rest of my life free"
Marianne beckoned Elijah over to stand by her; she pointed out into the night "to the left of the tower, where the candles shine brightest" she directed him "that used to be my home, forever living in the shadows of this castle. This town used to be magical, but now it's complete and utter torture"
Elijah followed her finger and to his surprise, there was one small light that shone brighter than the others. He didn't believe in fate or signs; but he took that as a sign that she was the only good in this mess of a place, and he trusted her.
"I'm sure it will all be worth it when it is over" Elijah reassured her, as he felt her aura sink to something worse than fear and sadness however her face held up a perfect front.
"By the months end" she took a breath in and smiled "all I have to do is wait the month out; and then finally I can regain control of my life"
"When is the wedding?" He asked; watching and feeling as her aura that burnt bright fizzled out into a darkened fear and nausea. Maybe he shouldn't have asked, after all the sacrifice she was making here was a huge one indeed, marriage is an important aspect to a normal mortal beings life, and in as Elijah had travelled, he had learnt that people only really married once, if not, they were frowned upon.
"It is in two weeks; I have been counting the days, hoping they'd slow, but it is just my nerves" She pressed her lips together and bubbled with laughter "He seemed so ecstatic when I agreed to marry him, the poor man doesn't know what is coming to him"
Marianne's fists clutched and she gritted her teeth as she thought about the man who had caused so many issues in her life.
"In that time, we will help you find the keys to the room" Elijah agreed once more
"Thank you" She smiled "Maybe if you have something of your father's, I might be able to track him sometime in the near future"
Elijah smiled, enjoying the growing alliance he had with the girl. He never knew it would be so easy.
