Marianne felt like just lying down, closing her eyes and waking up back on the other side. Or waking up back where she first began.

"Maybe I will give you a moment to think between yourselves" she understood the choice they faced. The Mikaelson's could end Tristan's torment upon them through one simple transaction. If not, everybody they know will die.

She turned, and walked away. Needless to say, she was in complete and utter shock. Did Tristan's revenge for her surpass all of the other things he had worked towards in order to bring the Mikaelson's down?

Elijah followed. Knowing the exact answer before everybody could talk about it.

"Marianne" he called after her, wanting her to stop and talk to him.

"I'm not a monster, Elijah" she began, still walking "I know I do not belong in this time and I no longer am part of your family; and it is okay, it is okay for you to give me to Tristan in order to procure your families safety"

Marianne wanted to make it crystal clear that it was okay. She would have hated being given this ultimatum, so she would just make it easier for him to choose. Her or his family.

It wasn't like he was given that choice before.

"Marianne, if you would just listen to me" Elijah sped up and landed in front of her, intercepting her path. He opened the door to the nearest room and allowed her in first. "Please"

Marianne sighed, taking Elijah's invitation and walking into the dimly lit room. The curtains had been closed, allowing only a small bit of light to shine through.

"You do not have to break it to me gently" she let out a bubble of laughter to try and conceal the pain she held. "I'll be okay, I can handle myself"

"You do realise I will never dream of handing you over to that man without a fight?" Elijah asked, stopping her in her tracks. She was almost convinced that she was as good as Tristan's.

"Don't be stupid Elijah, Are you willing to risk the lives of your family? He is dangerous" Marianne just wanted to make sure that he knew what he had decided.

"My family and I have fought many a dangerous men, we still breathe to tell the tales" Elijah replied, his words finally making sense and confirming to the small witch that there was no way she would be in Tristan's grasp.

Her lips parted as they quivered, her heart raced and she could finally express how terrified she really was feeling, it was only then she actually realised what was happening. She didn't want to be taken, she was only trying to be brave "oh my goodness, Elijah please don't let him take me" she jumped forward, hugging the original vampire and leaving him in such a state of shock.

Elijah felt her chin rest on his shoulder, his hands raised as one took hold of her back and one rested on her hair. It felt so natural, not forced. It felt like home.

"I'd rather die than give you up" Elijah breathed, taking in her aura, her scent. Everything about her reminded him of those days where he thought of himself as pure and innocent. Where he was unfathomably happy, irrevocably in love.

He placed a kiss upon the side of her head. Oh how he wished this to be his everything, he wished she'd feel the same in return. He wished for her forgiveness, and parts of his darker side, though he regretted thinking it, wished that he would have taken her and run, leaving his family to Mikael's wrath.

"Your thoughts are terribly loud" Marianne muttered as she refused to let go "you cannot think that of your family"

"I can't help what I think, somehow you cloud my mind" he admitted, expecting her to just stand up and explain their boundaries once more.

But instead, she squoze him tighter "I forgive you" she whispered in his ear, sounding like a thousand melodies playing on perfect symphony. Blood rushed through his body, leaving a tingling feeling and making Elijah smile.

She let go and took his hand in hers. "I hope you can forgive me for my foolishness, you only wished to save your family"

"You do not have to apologise for anything, Marianne." Elijah stated

"Maybe we can start all over again" She had an idea "forget everything and just start new?"

Elijah smirked, his fingers taking a small piece of hair from her cheek and pushing it back "now why would I want to forget the days where I felt most alive?" He asked "why would I want to forget how my heart raced when you'd agree to marry me? The day where I first laid eyes on you? Do I need to go on?"

"The bad parts, then" Marianne wasn't expecting Elijah to come out with such a perfect answer. It almost left her speechless."let us forget the time I died, and pretend that I just went away and maybe we can start again, we can start off as friends"

Elijah had edged closer with every word she had spoken. Her voice felt so soft and he could feel her breath dance across his lips. All he wanted to do was kiss her; he had waited his time.

But the look in her eye, that sparkle when she spoke just got to him. Marianne wanted to start a fresh, and maybe kissing her wouldn't be the best idea right now. Elijah didn't want to ruin what he had.

"You have yourself a deal" he smiled and squoze onto her hand. Finally, something good had come of today; Marianne had a bounty on her head, but in Elijah's arms, she didn't feel scared.
