They are letting 6 foes leave unharmed seems dumb to me.
Its so stupid. It has to be a trap. Then again there is the oath the vampaneze take before being blooding swearing to always tell the truth.
A vampet is leading us out, he has a rifle in one hand - walking like a zombie...lifeless.
Alice is walking in the front. She really wants to get back to her job and to the outside world again, bring justice to the vampaneze.
Far behind her is Harkat and Debbie, they both wanted to stay behind just as much as I do, but...obviously they were told to leave as well.
Next is Jack and Smickey - both speeding to catch up with Harkat and Debbie - not being fast enough.
Then there was me. Slowly walking slouching, not wanting to leave my best friend behind.
If I leave now who knows what might happen I them. What would happen to the clan?
When we got about halfway Alice attacked the zombie-like-vampet. She slemmed into his back with one swift motion and he went tumbling to the ground - her landing on top of him.
The vampet growled angrily and they both wrestled for the rifle in the males hands.
She ended up just shooting the gun, not knowing what way it was pointing. Luckily for her it was pointing at the vampet.
Unlucky for the vampet half his face was shot off. Blood spewed across the place and it truly was a gruesome sight. Flesh hanging from his face grossly blood pouring almost nonstop from his cheeks. He screamed in pain.
A lot of - too many - vampaneze and vampets tried to cram their way into the already small tunnel and they got stuck for a moment.
"Morgan! How could you?!" Alice snaps at the vampet - I assume she knows him
Morgan - the vampet, as we just learned - glares at Alice and smiles through his blood covered cheeks, before trying to speak, "Alisss yuu sould hep ne ut here." He slurrs his words together. She quickly shoot her head and turned towards the approaching crowd.
With that sour note Harkat, Debbie, and I turn with Alice and fight the horde of monsters with her.
Smickey and Jack are confused but find weapons and help anyway.
Surprisingly they were not half bad.
I knew Smickey was good, but wow. In P.E. he was fast and strong - basically the perfect fighter, but he did lack in strategy and did leave many opportunities for his opponent to strike.
Jack on the other hand surprised me beyond belief. He was easily doing flips, jumps, and cartwheels around the place to avoid gun shots from the vampets. Even in his tired sorry state he was really....epic. Though his style was mostly on defense it helped to just have them distracted.
I glance back at Darren after my short examination over the two more than capable males.
Darren appeared to be fighting a large vampaneze - not that those are really new - his foe was roughly twice his size and...terrifying.
Harkat was attacking on of the smaller of all the enemies - but even a small opponent could pose a terrible threat.
Debbie was struggling a little - this wasn't her forte I already knew that - but she still tried and risked hee neck fighting next to the over powered Harkat Mulds.
Vancha was just finishing up stabbing his long sharp jagged nails into the heart of a vampet, killing him instantly. I couldn't look at him for very long as his hand was covered in blood and chunks of skin.
Larten was on a journey up the rope connecting the platform to the ground. Over the harsh burning hot flames below him.
Alice managed to make it through the horde of attackers and quickly makes her way to the rope. She guards it and anyone who tries to shoot at Larten she would shoot them first, making sure no one harms the male on his way up.
We all struggled with our opponents. Many of the vampaneze that were trying to enter the tunnel realized that they weren't getting through and went to fight a different opponent, so that left only a few left within the hallway.
I saw a vampaneze try and get Alice but I quickly threw my knife at him - it hit him directly in the back of the he neck and he fell, dead.
My plan at the moment? Get out of this tunnel. Easier said than done... The only way into the main cavern was guarded by vampaneze. I then remember - how could I forget? - the gun I had and shot at a few, most managed to dodge, but two got hit in the stomach and collapsed to the ground. I glance back at Debbie and Harkat ganging up on a vampet and I know they are more than able. I quickly make my way to the others through the small entery way I created.
Making my way out of the small claustrophobic-causing tunnel I sigh in pure relief - that didn't last long. I was quickly swung at by a vampaneze and I was yet again in another battle.
After defeating this for I am exhausted. No sleep and fighting - they don't exactly mix.
I look over at Jack, wondering how he must feel, but...he was completely fine. He was even laughing, this must be super fun for him, huh?
I turn back to the tall platform and see that Larten finally got up there. "Good job." I whisper.
Everyone stops fighting, everyone now focusing on the determining battle up there.
"Larten, Mr. Tiny said you would come up." The Vampaneze Lord says, taking off his hood. We are all amazed. He was scrawny with brown hair and brown eyes, plenty of scars and other marks - how many brunettes must I know?
"Did he say which of us would triumph?"
"No... He said it could swing either way."
"That is encouraging."
"The deal's off. We're stepping in." Gannen says. "We'd have kept our side of the bargain, had you sent Darren Shan as agreed."
"But its three on one!" I yell, anger coming over me once again.
"Death to the vampires!" The vampanezr and vampets chant, "Long live the lord!"
"Have you made your peace with the gods, Larten Crepsley?" Gannen asks.
"This is what I've been waiting for..." Steve says, excitent obvious in his facial expression and voice.
"Don't you dare die!" I yell.
And then they begin.
Steve had a bizarre weapon. It was a wipe with spike like things. I've never seen anyone with that sort of weapon. It it normal for the vampaneze?
Gannen had a normal looking and lame looking thin sword.
The Vampaneze Lord had a curved knife - the same size as Larten's.
Larten was struggling a bit at first, obviously three against one was difficult. Though, his attention to the Vampaneze Lord never faltered and he made sure he went after him father than Steve or Gannen.
It was nerve wracking, honestly. I mean, watching one of your friends battle to the death right before your eyes and you can't do anything about it...is just horrifying.
Before long he managed stabbed the Lord and sent him plummeting to his firey grave.
We cheered. Larten won!
We all smiled.
"Good job!" Darren yells.
"You did great!" Vancha yells.
This seems too easy...the way Steve and Gannen weren't doing anything to protect their Lord...just seems...suspicious.
Before I can think anymore I see the orange haired vampire smile at us, standing at the edge of the platform. Of course nothing can end as happily as this - Larten's happy victory obviously has to come to a horrible and morbid end.
Steve appears behind him and pushes him off, causing Larten to fall to his own first grave.
