Chapter 5

I woke up to Arra.

"Wake up." She says calmly.

"That's not how you wake people up." I say sitting up.

"Well it worked, didn't it?"

"I guess." I swing my legs off the hammock and jump off. "Why do I need to wake up?"

"Darren's trial has started."

"What?!" I yell.

"Yes. He is already half way. It was hard waking you. Its been about 45 minutes since he started."

"You let me miss his trial?!"

"Yes. It is not impor-"

"It is very important." I growl.

"Very well. We must go now then." And with that we exit the cell and head for the tunnel that the trial was being held at.

When we got there Darren was more than half way through.

He was cut up very badly and looked his clothes were severally cut up - only his underwear remained... But he wouldn't die from this trial I know it!

Darren hit a stalactite with his hand and it ended up falling. It was huge too. While the stalactite was falling it turned to its side slightly and the bugger ended hit Darren in the stomach. But he didn't fall from his spot on the stagmites he was balancing on.

The stalactite hit the ground, causing a loud boom sound. Other stalactites started falling, if one were to hit Darren, he would be a gonner for sure.

My previous confidence shrank and now I'm honestly worried for the well-being of the boy in the large tunnel.

Some stalagmites broke and fell as the stalactites fell on top of them, but that didn't really cause much trouble as the falling stalactites.

Darren survived the rain of sharp falling rocks and processed toward the end of the tunnel.

It took him about thirty minutes but he got there - obviously taking his time not that he learned his lesson - without impaling himself.

He got to us and collapsed. He was exhausted. A hour and a half and he finally made it to the end!

Almost falling and dying many times. He survived every danger thrown at him.

I smile. He's alive! He survived!

Only couple more trials to go.

I sit down next to him and my smile grows Ear-to-ear as I hug him tight.

"You okay?" I ask worrily.

"Yeah. Just peachy." He says sarcastically.

"Haha. Let me help you up." I let go, stand up, and stick a hand out for him to grab. He smiles at my before grabbing my hand.

I put his arm around my shoulders and hold him up.

Gavner smiled at us - though I'm sure its for a different reason than I am smiling - and Darren grinned back at him.

A lot of vampires congrated Darren on his second successful trial. Just three more to go...

Some doctor vampires make their way into the cave and take Darren from my supportive hold and take him to our cell.

Darren and I locked eyes for a second before he actually fully left, I brushed it off with a bright smile and he opened his mouth to says something, but was interrupted by the medics moving him away.

Gavner wraps his arm around my shoulders and laughs as Darren is being taken to our cell.

"You guys should mate." Gavner says, cheerfully.
