Request - Drabble Matt Donovan

Matt's hand was holding yours. Left and right from the two of you were gravestones. One of those stones had Vicki's name on it, but Matt had passed it without even looking at it. He had already placed a flower on that one yesterday, when it had been her birthday.

"Are you sure you want to show me this, Matt?" You whispered. You didn't want to disturb the calm and silence. You knew that Matt had not told you everything about himself yet and you had not wanted to push him.

He deserved to tell you the story of his life at his own terms and own time. "Yes, I really want you to know everything about me." He kept on walking, but after a few more minutes he stood still in front of a simple stone.

"Penny Ares, beloved partner..." You stopped reading as soon as you saw a tear rolling down Matt's cheek. You turned your face towards him and you saw how that one tear was followed by another one and another one. "Was she your partner?" You swallowed and whispered. You already knew the answer, but you wanted to hear it from him.

"Yes, I loved her." Matt bit his lip and he was clearly trying to fight the tears.

"Don't fight them, it's okay to cry over someone you love." You sighed and you licked your lips. "If there is anything I can do to make you feel better, I will do it." You bent your head. You had always known that you were not his first girlfriend, but you had not really thought about something like this.

"I'm fine, but..." He hesitated for a moment and he held out his arms. "Can you please just hold me?" He almost begged you and you nodded.

You wrapped your arms around his strong body and you pressed him to your chest. Your lips kissed the tears that were rolling down his cheeks away. Your hand went through his hair, while your other hand rubbed his back. "I'm so sorry, Matt." You spoke softly, not even sure if he could hear you. It didn't matter. You just wanted to say something. "I'm so sorry."
