You shook your head, turning around to leave the compound. You had taken a lot from Klaus, but it was enough now.

"Come on love... don't be cross...". He followed you towards the door, speeding in front of you, blocking your exit and wouldn't move, even when you tried to push him aside. Without success, of course.

"I've had it, Klaus. Stop. Can't you stop thinking about you for this one time?", you started to yell. "I've asked you to stay here with me, I've asked you to keep him alive, but no, you needed to deal with him as you always did, and I'm sick of it. I've seen enough death, ok? Now move!"

He crossed his arms, looking down on you.
"I'm not moving, Y/N. Not because of false accusations from your part. Not because I did what I deemed necessary to protect this town, my family, you..."

"If you wanted to protect me, you should have listened. Do you get that?" You tried to walk around him, now he made sure he wasn't moving, but he didn't let you.

"I only did that because I love you!" He sighed dramatically. "He would not settle for less, love. You would have been dead if I wouldn't have chased him out. I have tried talking, or maybe I should say Elijah tried that. When that didn't work out, only then we resorted to my, far more effective, methods." He shook his head, looking disappointed. "I know you do not like the way things are in this world, but it's reality, sweetheart. I kill them, or they kill someone I care for. I prefer the first option."

You had given up your attempts to leave, trying to see the reason in what he was saying, and you did see it. You knew there was some truth in it.
"I don't want the world to be this way, Klaus. I don't want someone to have to kill for my survival. I don't want to have to look over my shoulder because there might be someone out there for my blood who might take me. I don't want it anymore..."

He wrapped you in his arms, resting his chin on your head.
"I know, love. And I wish I could make that world for you. But I can't. And until we find that fairy tale you so deserve, I will protect you from all evil."
