You had turned your back on him. You didn't care what he thought, what he had to say. You had had enough.

For three years he had disappeared, just stepped out of everyone's life, and now he was back, only to make a mess of it? And he still expected everything to be the way it was when he left?
"Y/N? Come on... I get that you're mad at me, but ignoring me doesn't solve anything."

It was working pretty well, or so you thought. You might want to yell at him, but you didn't know if that would bring you anything. He was the one who had started to ignore everything and everyone around him first, and now he thought he could just start right over? It shouldn't be that simple.

"Please talk to me?" He almost started to beg, and that was something Damon hadn't done a lot.

"And what is it you want to talk about?", you blurted out when you finally turned towards him. "How you ruined everything with you decision to dessicate yourself? How you didn't want to talk to anyone at all?"

He shrugged.
"I know I screwed up, Y/N. But I screwed up even more when I wasn't in that coffin! Ask Bonnie... I almost got her killed."

"So you left her. And Ric. And me. Everyone missed you, Damon. Did you ever think about how it would be for us never to see you again?" Finally you could tell him in his face how you had felt. "You want me to talk to you? Fine. Then you listen. And you don't run away just leaving notes like you did before. We care about you, Damon, we get that you're going through a hard time, but saying goodbye like that, knowing that we'll never see you again. Dick move, and I'm not sure if any of us is ready to forgive you for that."

"I'm not sure if that's what I'm asking of you..." It had been long ago when Damon had been this insecure... you didn't know if you had ever seen it. "I can't make it better than it is, Y/N. I'm just... I'm back now, ok? And I'm not going to give up again. Not before I cleaned up this mess, at least."

You weren't ready to forgive him yet.
"Show it. And if you're serious, I might reconsider hating you. But for now it's up to you, Damon."
