"SHADOW PLEASE SLOW DOWN, I SWEAR IF WE DIE HERE I'LL"
"You'll do what? Do absolutely nothing is what you'll do."
Screw you and your witty comebacks! I had no clue where we were going. All I could see through my squinted eyes where big buildings, other vehicles and the familiar cement road. It wasn't until we stopped at a stoplight where I let my tensed body relax and felt my heart continuously thump inside my chest.
"P-please Shadow, let me get off of here." I pleaded with shaky voice.
"Calm down princess. I've been obeying the speed limits... For once."
I saw the traffic light flicker back to green and felt my arms tense up around Shadow's waist again. I quickly closed my eyes and waited for the acceleration to kick in. There's no way we're obeying the speed limit, I feel like I'm going 200 kilometres an hour here!
10 minutes later
"See? It wasn't that bad was it?"
"I hated it." I spatted.
We both got off his motorcycle and entered what looked like a modernize restaurant with a garden theme patio in the front. I looked around and realize we were in the downtown region. Big business building engulfed us while the aroma smelt of different restaurants cooking their food. As Shadow push open the door, a male hostess welcomed us in.
"Welcome sir and madame, where would you like to sit?"
"Patio. Preferably somewhere that's less occupied by others." Shadow replied back in his natural deep husky tone.
I notice that our hostess was probably feeling intimidated by Shadow or at least he felt like he needed to step up his game around him. Because he instantly showed us the way and kept asking Shadow's all these personal questions as if he was a celebrity or something. Pfft, that's the effect you get when you try and prime yourself everyday of your life. We sat down on puffy soft looking chairs with a medium size glass round table in between us. The hostess was nice enough to pull my chair out for me and gestured me to sit down. He even came back with two glasses of iced water while we looked at the menu. I could feel myself sweat-drop when I saw the prices on the menu, almost everything on it was $20 and over. The only thing I could probably buy right now was a free glass of water. My parents are rich but not me. I'm so glad I'm not paying for this.
I gazed up at Shadow who took a sip of his water and flipped a page on his menu.
"Sorry, last time I check, I'm a hedgehog, not the menu." He spoke without looking up.
I felt my ears blush and quickly dug my face into the menu. Stupid Shadow and his ability to sense me looking at him. A waitress came back and took our orders. I ordered a simple Caesar salad and Shadow ordered a pasta dish of some sort. As soon as the waitress left, Shadow spoke up.
"So why were you around that neighbourhood? Visiting Sonic?" Trying to sound uninterested.
I jolted up in surprise and slowly sunk back down in my seat. I faced away from Shadow as I spoke, trying to hide my winced expression.
"You can say that I guess..."
"Alright, what did Sonic do to you that made you so frustrated with yourself?" Shadow asked with a bit of exasperation.
"Psh, why would you want to know? Aren't you like his second best friend?" I angrily replied back.
"Please. Don't insult me, like I would ever classify that faker as my 'friend'." He put up his fingers up and did air quotation marks.
"Why do you hang out with him if he ain't your friend?"
"Same reason why I put up with Knuckles; I find it amusing to see their failures." He smirked mischievously.
I pulled my lip into a fine line and glowered at Shadow for saying something that's on the borderline of rude. Then again, it should be expected coming from him.
"Hmph, back to the original question, why were you there?"
I didn't like Shadow at all, I don't even know why I let myself be dragged here with him. Though, there isn't any harm in telling him. Besides, Shadow must know that I love Sonic with all my heart so it wouldn't be awkward if I told him.
"Fine, I'll tell you. But you gotta promise me that you won't judge me after hearing it okay?"
"I've been judging you this whole time, in fact, you have been judging me as well. Am I right?" He slyly grinned.
"How about you shut up mr. Know it all, and just promise me."
"I don't make promises." He said in a low tone.
I'm seriously one minute from smashing Shadow's head into the glass table with my hammer. No, no, calm down Amy, remember, you're trying to be a better person. I did a long sigh and stared up at Shadow. "Okay, it all started yesterday when I followed Sonic to his math class..."
