I Love You Chapter 34

"An arcade? You took me, to an arcade." I stood there speaking in a monotone voice.

"Not just any arcade, the best one in town! Come on Ames." He scratched his nose in triumph.

Sonic grabbed my arm and we ran into the neon sliding doors. As soon as we entered, I could hear the laughter and countless video game noises.

I suddenly felt panicky, realizing that going to an arcade isn't the best choice to blow a few minutes. "Sonic, I wasn't expecting you to take me here. I think I should go back to Shadow-"

Sonic suddenly intertwine his fingers with mine and softly smiled. "How many times do I gotta tell you? Don't you worry your pretty head. Let's go gets some tokens."

He lead me to the front desk and purchased a whole bucket of token. While we waited for our bucket to be filled, I kept gazing at our fingers interlocking. My cheeks were blushing no doubt about that, but I felt like there was a faint hint of pain inside my fragile heart. Sonic said he texted Shadow where I was... I haven't gotten a message from Shadow myself so, I guess this should be fine. Wait, did Sonic even text Shadow yet?

"Alright! We got our bucket. Which game first, Ames?"

"U-umm..." I was stuck on the thought, not sure what game to play.

"Heh, you're taking too long. I know! Over here." He chuckled.

We strolled almost all the way to the back of the building. In front of me stood a huge arcade machine with already four people playing on it. They were holding guns connected to the machine and shooting at the screen where zombies and other monstrosities came to life.

"A shooting game?" I questioned.

"Not just a shooting game. This is the newest edition of thriller blaster 3000x." He wrapped an arm around my shoulders and leaned on me slightly. "You can't play this game by yourself. You need a partner and two opposing rivals. Who ever survives the longest, wins the game. Not only is it super fun, it's so easy to get tickets out of it."

I blushed at Sonic's action and stiffen myself.
Suddenly, the left side groaned in distress, probably from losing the round, while the right side gave each other high fives and cheered.

"Come Ames, it'll be fun, trust me." Sonic waved to the two victors. They nodded and proceeded to wait for us.

Sonic stepped on the machine and inserted the coins. I slowly stepped on and could feel every vibration happening. I grabbed my gun and got familiar with it. Hmmm, I haven't played a shooting game in a while. Sonic grabbed his and gave the other group a thumbs up, saying that we were ready. We were put straight into the game, no introduction or anything. I panicked and shot blindly, practically missing every zombie.

"Hehe, come on Ames, I know you're better than that! Don't let me down now." Said Sonic as he shot a huge mutant spider down.

I felt adrenaline pumping through my veins and I instantly felt more alive. My shots became more accurate and felt triumphant when we cleared our stage before the other team.

"me let you down?" I pfft. "I should be worrying about you, mr.dead weight." I playfully teased.

"Is that a challenge I hear? Alright, first one to die is a total loser!" He said in his cocky voice.

"You're on!" I cheered.

1 Hour Later

In the end, I was the victor for our little game. Oh, we also won our match against the other team. We played couple of other games be fore exchanging our tickets for this one huge blue fluffy bunny that Sonic insisted me getting for myself. I think that was his way of saying: "a gift from me to you". That was pretty sweet of him though. After being on our feet for so long, we decided to take a break.

"This thing is absolutely adorable aren't they?" I smiled while playing with the bunny's ears.

Sonic chuckled. "Yeah, super cute." He gulped and sheepishly stared at me. Why is he being all of a sudden? Oh! Maybe because he isn't used to using the word cute in his sentences. You know, cause he's always trying to be a hotshot.

I looked at the time and realized it was already 8 pm. "Wow, time flies when you're having fun." I commented.

"Yeah... Makes you remember what you did the entire day huh?" Sonic smiled and took a sip of his drink.

"You can say that again!" I laughed and then instantly froze. My eyes widen to the side of globes and I felt panic sweep through me. My happy expression soon turned grim and I felt cold sweat forming. I pulled my hands back from the bunny and quickly searched my bag for my phone. Where is it? Where is it?

"Ames what's wrong?" Sonic asked.

"I-I-I totally forgot I was suppose to be on a date with Shadow--but I'm here with you!! He must be so pissed at me right now." How can I let this happen!? How can I forgot that I'm suppose to be with Shadow!? I grabbed my phone and turned on the screen. My heart sank as my expression grew even more sad. Despite me completely forgetting about the date, he still didn't bother to text me. W-why...?

"Hold on Sonic, I'll be back. I'm just gonna call Shadow and tell him why-" I began to stand up and walk away while talking when I felt Sonic's fingers wrapped around my arm. I turned around and stared at Sonic. His eyes were sad and his lips where in a tight frown. "Sonic, I need to call Shadow--"

"What happened to me huh?" Sonic bursted out.

I jolted up in surprise and turned around. "what?"

"You know, I thought we would still be best friends after our fight, but we clearly aren't right now!"

I narrowed my eyes. "Sonic what are you saying? We are best friends. I just need some time to myself."

"Time to yourself or time with that Faker?" He bitterly smiled.

I was speechless. I didn't know where this was coming from. I lowered my hand with my phone and fully faced Sonic.

"Ames..." He slightly relaxed his grip and walked closer to me. "I'm such a fool for not realizing this when I got the chance..."

"Sonic I don't understand." I shook my head and continued to stare at Sonic.

Sonic sighed and closed his eyes, then reopened them, staring deeply into my own emerald colour eyes. I didn't know, what was about the look he was giving me, but I felt paralyzed. "What I'm saying is..." He pulled on my arm, bringing me close to his chest. I placed my hand that held onto my phone and placed it on Sonic's chest so our own torsos wouldn't be touching. With his other hand, he cupped the right side of my cheek and tilted my head. "I love you Amy Rose..." With that, he kissed my lips with his.

H-huh? What did Sonic just say? He continued to kiss me as a million thoughts buzzed through my head. My eyes were wide open with disbelief that something like this would ever happened. From the age of 7, I've made a vow to myself that I would make Sonic love me. I've dreamed of this moment, hell, this should be the best moment in my life! I always wanted Sonic to love me back, I've always wanted us to be together forever. Now after years and years of me chasing him, I finally got the guy...but...but what is this knot like feeling inside my heart? Why does my heart not beat in exhilaration? Why do I feel so sad...? Why aren't I kissing back to the guy I loved for so long?
