A Sudden Idea Chapter 19

Shadow almost choked on his food and began to cough. "E-excuse me?" His eyes were slightly widen and his eyebrows raised in surprise. Even when he was baffled, his expression still tried to maintain the familiar stone face look.

"I-I-I mean being my fake boyfriend!!" I quickly explained. "I was just thinking maybe--wouldn't be hilarious if I also proved Sonic wrong?"

Shadow put down his fork and leaned back in his chair, his expression turned back to his usual resting face but a little bit darker. He glared at me to continue without saying anything.

"You said it yourself, Sonic hates it when he gets proven wrong. What better way than to date one of his best friends huh?" I awkwardly grinned and extended my arms outwards. What the hell am I saying right now?

"Why? Him seeing us kiss is good enough." He rudely stated but his face never changed.

"T-that's what I was thinking too, but the next day or even later on, he'll ask about it and our relationship. We can't just say we kissed because we felt like it, we gotta have feelings in between ya know?" Why am I trying to hard to convince Shadow to be in a fake relationship with me? Yeah I want to get Sonic back for breaking my heart and practically leaving me to rot in the middle of the street but seriously, who's gonna believe that I'm dating this pessimistic hedgehog?

Shadow narrowed his eyebrows and was about to speak, but I cut him off.

"It wouldn't even be for that long- a week or so, until Sonic gets really agitated. Besides, it'll be fun." I giggled trying to lighten the mood.

He sighed. "What do I get out of this? Sonic being pissed off isn't enough for me. Give me something else." He arched an eyebrow, waiting for my reply.

I pondered on the statement but couldn't come up with any offers. "I don't know. How about this, I'll do anything for you after this okay? Nothing drastic though."

His eyes flickered. "Anything?"

"Yeah anything, no drastic tasks though."

He then ran a hand through his quills and once again signed. "Fine, but only a week." He glanced down at his phone and pressed on the home button, revealing the lock screen with today's date. " On May 23rd; a week from now, that will be our official break up day. We then shall never speak about the relationship and pretend it never existed."

My face lit up. "So it's settled then? We're officially pretending to date?"

He slowly nodded like he just agreed to sell his soul to the devil. I laughed with delight and continued to eat my sandwich. "We should hurry with our lunches, next period starts in 20 minutes."

He pulled his lips into a fine line. "Now you care about classes?"

"I've always cared! I have to get good grades and have a good attendance." I put down my sandwich once more and stared at Shadow's eyes. "You're intelligent right? Can you help me in my classes? I'm actually 10% from failing math class." I scratched the back of my head and blushed.

Shadow scoffed and waved our waitress to get his half eaten food to go. "Why don't you ask Tails or Blaze? Why bother me?" He said plainly.

I pouted and wiggled my shoulder in discomfort. "Because technically you're my boyfriend. Boyfriends are suppose to help their girlfriends when they are in need of assistance." I widely grinned. What the heck am I so happy for? Besides, Shadow doesn't have the time to do things like that.

"We're faking the relationship, we don't need to do all that nonsense." He spat out with venom. The waitress came over and gave flirtatious goo goo eyes at Shadow as she handed the bill to him.

I curled my upper lips from speaking out on the waitress's action. I don't know why, but something about the girl just being near Shadow made me stir in my seat in agitation. I furrowed my eyebrows and then began to bite my lip in aggravation. "I'm not asking much Shadow, just some study time." I spoke up in a annoyed tone after the waitress left.

"Fine, whatever. This just means my reward needs to be sweeter than before." He smirked in a mischievous way.

"Thanks Shadow. You know, you aren't as bad as I thought you were." I sat back in my chair and put on an impressed expression.

He softly chuckled. "You don't know a lot about me, and I tend to keep it that way." He got up from his seat and laid down the money on the bill. I followed behind him to his motorcycle and smiled. I'm actually pretty excited for this plan to take action. I wonder what Sonic will think, My gosh, imagine the looks on the rest of the gang! I felt my heart thump with excitement and felt my face blushing. I stopped dead in my tracks, remembering what I just thought to myself. WAIT WHY AM I EXCITED!? I HAVE TO DATE THIS EMO ACTING HEDGEHOG THAT CARES ABOUT HIS MOTORCYCLE THAN HIS OWN SAFTEY. WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME!?"
