Chapter 21: New Years

*POV: Harry*

I watch Zayn and Perrie smiling, laughing together as they stay in this dreary hospital room. I’m smiling at them, but I don’t feel anything anymore. I so much crave I could have a relationship like that, but nothing seems to work out for me anymore.

“You okay mate?” Zayn asks, looking away from Perrie to check on me. That doesn’t keep them from cuddling though. I just nod, gulping.

“What’re you doing for New Years since the whole Taylor situation?” Perrie asks me cautiously. Fuck. I was supposed to go with her to Grimmy’s party where we’ll all pretend to have fun when we’re all in our little hell. All I really want to do is snack on snacky foods and hang out, watch fireworks later on maybe.

“I’m not sure honestly. I don’t have any plans anymore,” I explain. The look of sympathy they are giving me is going to make me sick. Snow wouldn’t look at me this way.

“I’d offer for you to stay with us, but I’m sure you don’t want to spend your New Years in a dreary hospital room,” Perrie laughs and I nod, knowing that much. New Years Eve is in two days so I should really come up with something.

“Why don’t you go and visit Snow and the girls? We all know you miss them and besides, I think Louis needs to resolve some issues with one of them. He’s been off since they left, ya know?” Zayn explains and I nod, knowing exactly what he means. Ever since the kiss that he shared with Lexi, he just hasn’t been the same. I think a talk with her might clear things over. I’ll go out there for moral support with Louis.

“You know what? I think I’ll do that,” I smirk already taking out my phone to dial up Louis.

“Thank you,” I say to the nice woman, walking back to the lads with the three rooms that I got. Liam stayed back home, but Louis and Niall came. Louis thought my idea was superb and Niall missed Snow just about as much as I did, making me feel a sense of jealousy. It’s an absurd feeling if I’m being honest because I know that she’d never go for either of us as long as she’s with Zach.

“Let’s throw our things in our rooms and head over to Madelyne’s, yeah?” I say and the nod, grabbing their key cards. I make my way up to my room, tossing all of my shit inside and on to the bed. I reorganize everything when I get back here. I then exit my room to see Niall and Louis leaving theirs also. They seem tired, but it’s already around eight and coming later would seem weird. We get into my old pick-up truck and again, I’m glad the Snow’s aunt lets me store it at her place. The drive is short since the shitty motel is close to Madelyne’s home. Louis is on edge the whole ride, knowing that Eleanor is a bit upset that he’s left her alone on this night of all nights.

Soon enough, I saw her house, the most ghetto of all the ones in her neighborhood. The others are really well kept ‘cos the owners are nice and loaded with money, but Madelyne hasn’t been as fortunate. Her roof is new, but still low class considering they just fixed it not so long ago. Her lawn is covered in Snow and footprints that I know belong to Madelyne’s cousin and Brayden. Doesn’t matter how cold it is, those lads will play to their hearts desires.

“Hello?” Madelyne says as we enter without knocking. They weren’t expecting us and I’ve never had to knock before so all of their attentions turn towards us.

“Harry!” Josh says running to catch up with me. He jumps up and I swing him around, chuckling. Niall and Louis look a bit overwhelmed with all the new faces until they see familiar ones. This shouldn’t be too different for them considering how many new people we meet due to our careers. Soon enough, Snow comes walking around the corner of the hallway, confused until she sees our faces. I notice the way Niall lights up and hurries over to her and she giggles as he hugs her. If only I didn’t kiss her ‘cos that could and should be me now.
