Chapter 1 - Email

I just ignored all the bullshit my mom said and went upstairs. I'm not in the mood to deal with her right now. I'm actually used to this. My mom calling me painful names, hitting me with everything she can hit me with, uses my money for alcohol and selfish needs, and other shitty things she does. Sometimes I just cry myself at night until I fall into deep sleep. My mind is fine during the rest of the day but comes crashing down at night.

I sat on my bed and opened my laptop. I logged in to my email and saw that I have an unread message in my inbox. Weird. I clicked the icon and read what it said.

Hey Lils! Finally, I found your email account! How are you? I haven't heard from you since we were little kids! I miss you so much little troublemaker! Hope you're doing fine. Please reply as soon as you see this. I'll wait :)

From: unknown

It's actually been a long time since someone messaged me. Well, obviously, I am not doing fine. I'm stuck in this house with a horrible human being called 'mom'.

To: unknown:

How did you know my name? I'm doing "fine", thanks. May I know who you are?

I pressed send and a few minutes later this person replied.

From: unknown

Don't you remember me? It's Shawn! Shawn Mendes.

Oh my God! It's Shawn! I remember now.

*flash back*

"Moooom!" my little 6 year old self shouted as I was fixing my hair.

"Yeah?" she responded.

"Will you cook food? I have a visitor!"

"Shawn's coming again, isn't he?"

"Yes!"

"Alright. I'll cook you guys pasta."

I smiled and looked at my reflection in the mirror. I looked presentable enough. Soon enough, I heard a knock on the door.

"HE'S HERE!!" I excitedly shouted and ran downstairs. Mom opened the door and in came Shawn.

"Hello mrs. Watson!" He greeted.

"Hello Shawn. Lily's very excited to see you." my mom smiled.

"Mom!" I groaned.

"Hey Lils!" Shawn said and hugged me.

"Hey ugly dork." I said giggling. He gave me a playful glare.

"You kids play while I cook food, okay?" my mom said walking to the kitchen.

"Okay!" We both said.

"Wanna play video games?" I said.

"Heck yeah!" He said fist-bumping the air. We ran to the couch and operated the video game.

"I bet I can beat you." He said.

"Not if I beat you first!"

We we're playing in the middle of the game when he pressed the buttons to my controller.

"CHEATER!" I yelled and tackled him. We were both laughing our butts off when mom called us.

"Food's ready!"

"FOOD!!" we yelled simultaneously. We ran to the table and ate mom's delicious pasta.

"Man, I love going here. How I wish I could live here forever!"

I laughed at Shawn as he stuffed his mouth with food. He's the best, best friend ever.

*end of flash back*

He was my playmate back then when we were still little kids. He used to visit me everyday when my dad was still alive and when my mom is still 'normal'. He's my best friend for as long as I can remember. Until he moved away and became insanely famous, I never heard from him ever since.

To: unknown

Shawn?! Oh my God, I miss you so much! It's been so long! How's tour?

If only he knew how my life's been going. I really miss him. I really miss being with a person who actually loves seeing my existence.

From: unknown

I'm doing great, Lily! Here's my number. Call me and we'll talk there, okay? :)

And in this message was his number attached in the end. I dialed it in my phone and closed my laptop. He picked it up after four rings.

"Hello?" he said through the other line.

"Shawn?"

"Lily!"

"God, I miss you Shawn. It's been so long since we last saw each other." I said feeling a little teary-eyed.

"Same here, Lils." he said. I remember when we were little and he used to call me 'Lils'. And I got used to him calling me that everyday . "How are you? How's dad and mom?"

That hit me hard. How am I gonna tell him how my life has been? Should I lie? Should I tell him that my dad passed away eleven years ago?

"Can we meet, Shawn? I've got a lot of things I should tell you." I said.

"Of course! I'll meet you in any place you want. I'm currently in Los Angeles at the moment. Where do you want to meet?"

"At a local coffee shop called 'Dream Bean Coffee' shop. It's located just a few miles from my house."

(A.N.: I actually just made that coffee shop up. Haha! There's no such thing as 'dream bean coffee' shop. Anyways, continue reading!)

"Oh, I know that coffee shop. So I'll meet you there tomorrow?"

"Yeah. Tomorrow at 5pm."

"See you, Lils. I miss you so much!"

"I miss you too, Shawn. See you tomorrow." I said then hung up.

I can't wait till tomorrow. I need to tell him everything. He needs to know.
