-The next day-

I slowly walked downstairs trying my best not to make any sound. I saw my mom sleeping on the table with a few bottles of beer beside her. It's already 4pm and it's only a 30 minute walk to the coffee shop. I went outside and closed the door behind me.

Shawn must be on the road right now. It will take him five hours before he arrives at our meeting spot. After a few minutes of walking, I texted him that I was on my way. A few minutes later my phone buzzed.

From: Shawn

I'm at the coffee shop, Lils. Where you at right now?

Wow, he's already there? He must have driven earlier than I expected.

To: Shawn

I'm almost there :) Give me 10 minutes. See yah!

And....sent.

Soon, I made it to the coffee shop in just a nick of time. Once I entered the shop, the sweet aroma of coffee engulfed my nostrils. I scanned the shop finding Shawn but there was no sign of him. Soon, my eyes were hand blind folded.

"Guess who." The person whispered in my ear. I already knew who he was.

"Shawn!" I said hugging him.

"Hey Lils." He said hugging back.

"I missed you so much." I said, my head buried in his chest. I broke away from the hug.

"I miss you more, Lils. But look at you! You're so beautiful, Lily." He complimented. I blushed.

"You've changed your appearance too. You're not ugly anymore." I joked. He laughed then rubbed my head making my hair in a disaster. I fixed it up glaring at him playfully.

"Oh by the way, Lily. This is my friend, Aaron. Aaron, this is my best friend, Lily." He said pointing at the guy standing next to him.

"Best friend? I thought she was your girlfriend!" Aaron said. I smiled awkwardly. "Nice to meet you, Lily." He said offering a hand.

I smiled and took his hand into mine. "Nice to meet you too, Aaron. And yes, I'm his best friend.'' I said then chuckled.

"Let's get our coffee then sit in a booth. We need to catch up, Lily."
Shawn said.

"Oh well, I'd be heading back home then. I'll let you guys talk and hang out." Aaron said.

"Oh okay. Thanks man." Shawn said patting Aaron's shoulder.

"No problem. Bye, Lily." Aaron said with a smile.

"Bye." I smiled. Once he left the shop, me and Shawn went to the counter to order ourselves coffee.
After ordering, we sat at a booth near the glass window.

"How's life, Lils? I never heard from mom and dad since we moved." Shawn started. I gulped tapping my fingers on my cup.

''L-life's great. It's completely the same actually." I lied.

"Oh, that's cool. I never got the chance to visit you. I still memorize the directions to your house. You never moved." He said sipping his coffee.

"Yeah." I laughed nervously. He probably noticed, since he stared at me weirdly.

"Is something wrong, Lils?" He asked.

"H-huh? No! Everything's fine." I said smiling and shrugging everything off. I can't tell him yet. I'm afraid to tell him. He'll just get scared of him being in my terrible situation and leave just like what my other 'friends' and relatives did.

We continued to chat and spend time together until it was almost seven. I should get home by now. My mom will kill me, literally.

"I think I should get going." I sadly said. I never wanted to leave. But I had to.

"You're leaving?" Shawn frowned.

"I need to get home. My mom will-" I paused.

"What?" Shawn asked.

"My mom will get worried." I lied again.

"Oh, okay. I'd like to do this next time. I'll visit you often." Shawn said.

"No!" I said. I couldn't let him visit me. If my mom knew, he'll scare him away and I will never get a chance to be with Shawn again.

"No?" Shawn asked, confused.

"I mean.. Not yet. You see, I'm very busy at the moment. Yeah.. So.. I'll just tell you where we could meet again." I said standing up.

"Let me drive you home." He said standing up also.

"No, no. It's okay. I can go home by myself." I smiled.

"Are you sure?"

"Yeah. It's okay."

"Alright then. See you soon, I guess. It was nice seeing you again Lils." Shawn said pulling me into a hug. He pulled away then escorted me outside the shop. I waved one last goodbye before walking my way home.

Shawn's P.O.V.

Lily's been acting weird. Every time I talk about her parents, she gets nervous and changes the subject immediately. She doesn't want me to visit her in her own house. It's like she's keeping something from me. And I need to find that out.

I went back in the shop and to our booth. I then saw Lily's phone still on the table. She must have hurried too much and forgot her phone. I picked it up and left the shop. I need to return this to Lily.
