The vacations soon ended and second year of college started. Her father hadn't gotten the time to visit her yet, but he called and spoke to her on the phone. He said he would come by soon, maybe even next summer. She had waited fifteen years. Surely, she could wait one more!
In the first few days of college, rumours started up that there was something going on between Anshuman and Parvati because of the incident during the previous year. A lot of people had witnessed Parvati comforting Anshuman and taking him to her room after his fallout with Sandhya.
Both Anshuman and Parvati ignored the rumours though and played it cool. They were friends like they had been throughout the summer.
Anshuman had a hard time facing Sandhya, because she was in their classes too, but Parvati stood by him as support. They didn't exchange any words and steered clear from each other.
Parvati caught him staring longingly at her a few times, and she would often hold his shoulder reassuringly to break him out of it. She knew he was deeply hurt.
After all, love couldn't be easily forgotten.
The year passed like this. Anshuman and Parvati became the best of friends and they shared every problem with each other. They would make fun of each other and tease each other. They would playfully flirt.
Parvati still loved Anshuman. Anshuman still loved Sandhya. There was no change there.
However, they shared a beautiful bond. One that they both cherished. It was a friendship like none other.
On the last day of their second year of college, Parvati entered the girls restroom. Sandhya was there, standing in front of the mirror, applying lipstick.
Parvati went next to her, and looked at herself in the mirror too, fixing her hair.
"How is he?" Sandhya asked, turning to look at Parvati.
Parvati was taken by surprise as she looked at the other girl. She hadn't exchanged a word with Sandhya before this.
"Who?" Parvati asked, pretending like she had no idea what Sandhya was talking about.
"A - Anshuman," Sandhya said, and she said it with so much pain, that Parvati knew right away that she loved him.
Sandhya loved Anshuman, and there was absolutely no denying it.
