Anshuman watched as she desperately told him that she was suffocating, and he couldn't help it... he couldn't see her in this condition.
"Come in," he told her.
She nodded and entered his house.
Nobody was home right now. His mom had a night shift again, and his father was doing some work late at his office. Parvati followed him to the living room and sat on the sofa. Anshuman took a seat next to her and looked at her.
"What's wrong?" he asked.
"I... I moved on," she asked him. "Right?"
Anshuman continued to stare at her with a neutral expression as he answered, "Only you know if you have."
"I... I don't know... but what difference does it make? I am marrying Prashant tomorrow," she told him. "Anshuman, I can't change anything now. He's really nice... and I'm happy with him, but all of a sudden you showed up, and now I have doubts. Help me... please."
"How?" Anshuman asked. "How can I help you?"
He wanted to help her, but he didn't know how to.
"Tell me to marry him," she told him. "Tell me it'll be okay... and that I could marry him."
"Of course it'll be okay. Of course you can marry him," Anshuman told her seriously. "You don't need my assurance."
"I'm scared," she whispered. "I feel like something bad is going to happen."
"Nothing will happen," he replied. "Nothing at all. Don't be scared. It's okay. If he is a nice guy and if he treats you nicely, you can marry him... you can be happy."
"I told all of that to myself already, but I can't calm my heart Anshuman. I don't know what to do... I really don't know. I feel like this marriage shouldn't happen... I feel like I don't know. God... dammit, I feel like I still love you!" she confessed, sounding terrified. "I know I still love you... I can't... I can't help it... you help me... you help me, please."
Anshuman held her shoulders as she shook, in a frantic state. He wasn't taken aback from her confession... in a way he expected this when she called him today, requesting to see him.
"Parvati calm down," he told her seriously. "I can't help you. Only you can calm yourself down."
"Anshuman... I... I am scared. I am so scared," she repeated.
Anshuman pulled her close and hugged her as she shook, sounding like she was traumatized.
Why was a marriage that hadn't even taken place yet traumatizing her?
"Something bad is going to happen... I just know it... maybe I shouldn't marry him," she told him, tears falling down her cheeks as he held her. "I don't know what's happening. Anshuman... I don't know what to do."
"Shh..." he said, caressing her hair. "It's going to be okay."
She stopped shaking and felt his warm embrace.
If he said it was going to be okay, then surely it was going to be okay. Right?
