Ruchi requested Parvati to sit in the front seat of the car, and Anshuman sat in the back as Ruchi drove. His mom didn't believe that he was in any state to drive.

"Sandhya's parents are holding the cremation tomorrow," Ruchi explained. "We'll all go together. Is it okay?"

"I don't think I should go," Parvati mumbled. "I mean... her mom and dad probably hate me."

"They don't know it was you," Anshuman said from the back. "They just know she got into an accident because it was dark outside."

Anshuman hadn't told them? So he didn't want anyone to know that she was the reason behind Sandhya's death? But why?

"I still don't think I should go," Parvati murmured. "I mean I just married their daughter's fiance. It doesn't look good."

"It's okay. You can go," Anshuman said. "I don't want to go alone."

Parvati frowned. Why did Anshuman openly admit that he wanted her to come with him? Did he have something planned?

After they got home, Parvati took out her suitcase from the trunk. Ruchi asked Anshuman to take it upstairs, to which he reluctantly agreed.

"You haven't seen this house yet, have you Parvati?" Ruchi asked.

"Uh... actually I've been here a few times. We were best friends in college," Parvati explained.

"I see. Well, I'm not around much because of my profession. I'm a surgeon at the hospital, so I'm always on call. Anshuman's dad has to deal with big clients so he's always having late meetings. He does come home, but he has kept a bed in his office itself," Ruchi said, slightly laughing.

"Surgeon?" Parvati asked, as she finally remembered. "Oh! You're doctor Ruchi! You found out that I was hemophilic!"

Everything really seemed interlinked in her life. Ruchi stared at her for a few moments and then a sense of familiarity finally hit.

"Oh yes," Anshuman's mom said. "How are you feeling now? Last night's accident must have caused a lot of blood."

"I'm feeling better. I passed out, but they took care of me well. I woke up within a few hours," Parvati explained. "Thanks for asking Aunty."

"Don't call me Aunty. Call me mom," Ruchi said with a smile. "You're my daughter now."

Parvati smiled, her heart feeling warm that Ruchi had accepted her as her daughter.

"Parvati!" they heard Anshuman's voice scream from upstairs.

Parvati looked at Ruchi inquisitively. Why did Anshuman need her?

"Maybe he wants to spend some time with you," Ruchi told her softly. "You should go up and see."

How could she tell her mother in law that Anshuman didn't marry her because he liked her, but rather because he wanted to make her life a living hell?
