Anshuman rushed to the hospital first to check up on his daughter Anusuya. She was better by the time he got there. The doctors told him that she had pneumonia and had given her medication to control her fever. They said that she should get better soon and would be monitored constantly.

Ruchi worked at the same hospital, so Anshuman informed her about Anusuya's health. She in turn ensured him that she would remain with Anusuya after her shift.

After he felt at peace with how Anusuya was being taken care of, he went to the police station to give his statement.

"You already know. Exactly as I told you. Whoever this person is, they kidnapped my child. I don't know why, but it is unacceptable for someone to walk out with someone else's daughter," Anshuman informed the police officers.

"We've given her a beating for it," the officer said. "She wasn't divulging a proper reason. She was saying the girl was sick, so she took her... but no sane person would leave without waiting for a little while. You were only gone for a minute. We asked her to tell us the truth, and she didn't, so we beat her. We had to do our job. We still didn't get a different story from us."

"You beat her?" Anshuman gasped. "When I said to give her a harsh punishment, I didn't mean to raise your hand on a woman!"

"Anshuman, she kidnapped your daughter! Plus we had our lady officer do it," the officer explained.

Anshuman shook his head and quickly signed the papers.

"Can I meet her now?" Anshuman asked.

The officer nodded.

"Follow me," he said, and stood up.

Anshuman followed the officer to the cells, and as soon as he reached the right one, the officer informed him that he could only meet her outside the locked cell. Then the officer left.

The girl's back was turned to him, her long and wavy black hair flowing down to the middle of her back. Anshuman closed his hands around the bars of the prison and took a deep breath.

"I don't know who you are and I don't even care, but I want to know what you thought you would achieve by separating a father from his daughter?" Anshuman asked her.

Parvati's heartbeats got faster when she heard his voice. She had a dark bruise on her jaw and blood dripping from her lips when she turned around to see the man she had given up hope of ever seeing again.

As their eyes met for the first time in nearly five years, it was like the world collapsed at their feet.
