Prashant?

His daughter was brought to him by Prashant?

That was the most bizarre thing she heard. She looked up at Anshuman with confusion as he just shrugged.

"I don't know what to say," he answered. "I was all alone... and we sealed the house and moved away. Actually dad wanted to divorce mom... and mom was nowhere to be found when I returned."

Anshuman narrated the tale of how he had spent time searching for his mom, but she wasn't there. He told her about how they found each other, but he never found Parvati.

"I went to your house," Anshuman explained. "But your mom told me to go away."

"She did?" Parvati asked, her voice cracking, tears filling her eyes.

Her mom didn't tell her about this. Granted, she only contacted her mom after her delivery, but Saraswati could have at least let her know that Anshuman had come looking for her... anyways, what difference did it make now? It was the past.

"I moved here with mom, and I started the company Parvati here," Anshuman said, and turned to look at her with a smile. "My lucky Parvati."

Parvati sniffled, her eyes filling with fresh tears.

So Anshuman was the CEO of the company.

"You named it after me?" she asked, tears falling down her cheeks.

"I love you," he whispered to her.

She smiled through her tears. That was the only response she needed.

"Then what?" she asked.

"A month after I started this company, I went back to India to visit dad," Anshuman said, "Over there, I bumped into Raghuvir. He asked me how you were. I punched him... and the police arrested us two over the quarrel. You know Prashant is Raghuvir's cousin? Prashant came to give him a bail."

"Prashant is his cousin?" Parvati gasped.

Anshuman nodded.

"Yes," he answered. "I wanted to kill them both at the time. Dad got me out of jail. Prashant stayed back and said he wanted to say something to me."

"What?" Parvati asked.

"He told me to meet him later... at his house," Anshuman said. "I found the request strange. I said okay, I would."

Parvati nodded slowly.

"When I went to meet him, I saw that he was carrying a bundle in his arms. It was Anusuya. She was maybe only a few days old at the time," Anshuman explained. "Prashant told me that he found her in a basket outside his house. And in there was a letter. The letter said to bring him to me."

"To you?" Parvati gasped.

Anshuman nodded.

"It was weird. It was really weird. Prashant showed me the letter. It said if he wanted to do something right in his life, then to do this," Anshuman informed.

"But why you specifically?" Parvati asked.

"I don't know. Prashant seemed clueless too. Prashant told me he couldn't take care of the child... and if I said no, he'd take her to an orphanage. So I said I'd take her... for some reason I wasn't able to turn him down. There was just something about her... and I never regretted it for a moment. Anusuya is my life," Anshuman explained softly.

"Then you came back?" Parvati asked him.

"Well... yeah... but before that... I saw Raghuvir again. I watched him get hit by a truck," Anshuman told her.

"What?" Parvati gasped, her eyes wide.

"Yeah. He's paralyzed from the waist down," Anshuman informed her. "It was an accident... but he's not able to walk anymore. I guess he's spending a lot of time thinking."

"Let me get this straight," Parvati said with disbelief. "You watched Raghuvir get hit by a truck? Coincidentally?"

"Do you believe in coincidence?" Anshuman asked her.

Parvati laughed. Anshuman smiled at her and pecked her on the cheek.

"Raghuvir got hit by a truck because that was what was written for him. It was what had to happen at that moment. You can call it coincidence or fate, but that doesn't change the fact that what's meant to be, will be," Anshuman said to her.

That which was meant to be, would be.
