After a few minutes, Anshuman composed himself and leaned against the wall, taking deep breaths and trying to gather his thoughts. Hadn't he prayed that Sandhya would live? Now that she was going to live, why was he upset? Parvati may die for Sandhya to live... but his wish was going to be fulfilled right? Was this why they said to never make wishes? Because they came true in the most twisted way?
"Parvati," Anshuman said hoarsely to himself, "Why would you do this?"
He didn't know what the chances were for survival, but he knew that she may die today. That thought itself was enough to put him into a terrified state.
Anshuman was starting to blame himself...he should have known that something was very wrong when she bled profusely after getting cut by the soap dispenser in his bathroom. Why couldn't he figure it out?
He was thinking too much about Sandhya, that he forgot about Parvati. He hadn't thought once that maybe, just maybe, Parvati might not be okay.
Anshuman brought his hand up to his eyes and wiped the fallen tears.
In the process of saving Sandhya, he hadn't even guessed that he could lose Parvati.
He took Parvati for granted.
He had come to terms with Sandhya's death. He was starting to accept the truth... but the time was not enough to accept Parvati's.
"This isn't fair," he whispered. "This really isn't fair."
It wasn't even an hour later when the doctors came out of the room. Anshuman rushed up to them, desperation in his eyes.
"Parvati?" he asked, terrified, but still desperate to know the truth. "How is she?"
