They kissed for a short period of time before Anshuman broke the kiss to breathe. He placed his lips on Parvati's forehead, her cheek, then back on her lips again, still in a daze that this was his Sandhya.

"Anshuman," Parvati whispered against his mouth. "I'm not Sandhya... I'm Parvati."

He let go of her immediately and sat up on the bed. Parvati sat up too, looking down, feeling bad. Anshuman turned to face her and glared at her.

"Why did you kiss me?" he asked.

"I did not kiss you!" she argued. "You kissed me!"

Anshuman reached forward and touched her hair.

"So shiny," he murmured.

"Huh?" she asked.

It was like he was forgetting about what happened a few seconds ago.

"Your hair is so shiny," he slurred. "Parvati."

Anshuman leaned towards her and placed his nose on her head, inhaling her scent again.

Parvati reached around him and wrapped her arms around his body, hugging him, and placing her head on his chest. This feeling was blissful.

Anshuman hugged her too, running his hands down her back. She trembled as she felt his fingers brushing against the skin of her lower back.

"Will you do anything I ask you to do?" he asked her.

"Yes," she replied breathlessly.

"I can ask anything... very bad things," Anshuman told her.

"Try me," she replied. "Ask."

"You said to go all out. Let's go all out," he murmured, breaking the hug and sliding his hands around her waist.

One hand slipped onto her navel and she trembled.

"Why?" she asked.

"It's hard for me to control," he admitted, and he gently moved his hand around her again, to her back, and pulled her so close to him that she had no choice but to fall onto his lap. "I'm not thinking straight."

"B - but..." she whispered.

Anshuman placed his finger on her lips, silencing her.

"I'm not Sandhya," she repeated against his finger. "I'm Parvati. I don't want to be Sandhya."

A look of recognition hit his eyes, as if he was realizing that the girl in front of him was his best friend Parvati, and not any other girl. He just hugged her tightly and rested his chin on her shoulder.

"Then let me hold you like this," he murmured, and suddenly tears filled his eyes. "I just want to hold you."

Parvati caressed his hair, as she felt his tears pour on her shoulder.

Her husband was holding her close to him for the first time, and more than anything, she wanted to erase the distance between them... but now the time wasn't right.

She was drunk, but the power of love seemed to be stronger than any power the alcohol had, because even in her drunken state, she was able to take this decision with clarity.

"Let's just hold each other all night long," she whispered in agreement.
