"Okay, snap out of it Rome. I love you, we all love you, and we forgive you for almost getting Gaby kidnapped." Kristina said quickly as Romeo paced the room.
"Why did they want me anyway?" Gaby asked.
"How should I know?" Kristina replied. She tugged at the collar of her shirt.
"Could it be connected to Ash's disappearance?" Katia asked.
Kristina smiled and walked over to the bookshelf.
"We all know Gaby and Ash had a thing at the beginning of all this." Jax answered.
"Then it died down as Ash started having more secrets like that secret language with Kris." Xander followed glancing at Kristina.
"We don't have a relationship. We were just really great friends until he started acting mysteriously." Gaby stated.
"Uh-huh" Elizabeth made her way to the bookshelf.
"FOUND IT!" Kristina yelled. She held up the golden book victoriously. She stood on top of a ladder.
Everyone rushed towards Kristina and Elizabeth. Kristina tossed the book to Elizabeth. Elizabeth fumbled with the book, while Kristina jumped down.
"Open it already!" Kalani yelled from across the room. She fanned herself as she lounged on a couch with a magazine in her hands.
Elizabeth carefully opened the book to the first page. It was signed Paige Rayleigh. Elizabeth flipped to a random page, and set the book down on the table.
"The walrus is a wonderful creature found in-" Romeo began to read.
"WHAT THE HELL!" Jax burst out.
"GABY!" Kristina and Jax yelled staring at Gaby.
"What? So maybe Z.A stands for Zoo Animals! How was I supposed to know?" Gaby replied.
"In her defense the book cover is gold. No pictures or anything that resembles what the book contains. In Kristina's defense you could have said you weren't so sure it stood for Zombie Apocalypse." Romeo stated.
"Ugh....this isn't getting us anywhere!" Kristina yelled in frustration.
"Kristina, I personally hate you, and by the looks of it you're keeping secrets. Maybe you're the reason we aren't getting anywhere. It seems like to me that you can give us information to stop this, and you're not coughing it up." Kalani said.
"Also, Gaby I owe you two tacos and a Twinkie, so get over here." Kalani added as she brought out two tacos and a Twinkie from her pockets.
Gaby walked over hesitantly, but quickly, to Kalani. She opened a warm taco and gave Kalani a piece.
The room was silent. Kristina thanked the gods Ash wasn't here, because he would've cracked under the pressure. Kristina took a deep breath. She knew her past would catch up to her, but she was determined not to make now the time.
"Uh....Kristina? I know you don't really like me for some mysterious reason, but-" Devin began.
"Shut it." Kristina said calmly.
"Gaby, come with me. Xander keep watch, and the rest of you search the room for clues." Kristina ordered.
Kalani grabbed Gaby's wrist.
"Wait a minute. How do we know you're not going to kill her?" Kalani asked.
"Hello idiot! If I were to kill her you'd hear. Plus, why would I kill her? I've known her longer than you." Kristina said. She grabbed Gaby's shoulder and exited making her way to the other room.
"We need a plan." Katia muttered. She beckoned everyone towards her and they settled in the farthest corner away from the door.
"Okay, look. We all think Kristina knows something we don't." Katia said as they all sat down.
"I suspect there's something she's not telling us about Ash." Kalani added. She knew for this to work they would need everyone. Katia would get Elizabeth, and Kalani could remind the boys of their beloved friend.
"I know Kristina. She doesn't trust many people. We need someone who doesn't know much about her to make her feel comfortable." Elizabeth suggested. She knew Kristina well enough to know she had many secrets. Elizabeth tended to just ignore them, but this one concerns the worlds safety.
"Hm.....she doesn't really like Jax." Kalani said. She didn't need the bitch stealing her man.
"That leaves Xander and Romeo." Elizabeth muttered.
Romeo though about this as he looked at his friend. The rebel part of him he always tried to burry wanted to come out. The one part of him that felt like he didn't have a care in the world. Then, he remembered that part of him was supposed to be long gone. He thought of Kristina's look of betrayal she would give him if he found out.
"Uh...I can't do it. I wouldn't like to hurt her if it means all the same to you. I'm deeply sorry." Romeo said. "No problem. We all know Xander likes Kristina anyways." Kalani said with a laugh. If Kalani couldn't have Xander back at the base, he couldn't have Kristina.
"No I don't!" Xander argued his face crimson.
"Of course you don't." Jax smiled.

"Gaby, I'm afraid you don't understand what I'm saying." Kristina said for the millionth time.
"You're telling me the Zs want me, because they think I'm dangerous?" Gaby asked. She couldn't believe it. I mean what would the Zs want with her that Ash didn't have? Light brown hair?
"They think you're the cure." Kristina explained.
"But I'm not, and if they wanted a cure why wouldn't they take Kalani?" Gaby asked.
"I don't know! All I know is they don't know about Kalani yet. Hopefully. If Ash spilled then we are all doomed." Kristina replied. She hadn't thought about that. If Ash told on them they could be in serious trouble. Half of her wanted to protect the brother she loved, and the other half wanted to protect the friends she loved.
"Okay then. Can we go now?" Gaby asked munching on her taco.
"Okay let's go." Kristina said thankful that Gaby had bought what she told her. If Gaby knew the Zs wanted to take her to comfort Ash then she probably would've freaked. At least if she thought she was a possible cure it would've been less stressful.
They got up and walked inside the room the rest of the group was in. They sat in a circle conversing something.
Gaby opened her mouth to say something. Kristina clamped her hand over her mouth. She approached carefully until she was directly hovering in front of the ducked heads. Their heads were bent, so they couldn't see Kristina. Kristina only caught the words 'Okay that's the' before Romeo lifted his head.
"I thought I told you to look for clues." Kristina removed her hand from Gaby's mouth.
Everyone looked up at Kristina and smiled.
"And we did." Xander replied.
"We were just talking about Gaby's mistake." Kalani added.
Gaby tensed from behind Kristina. Kristina glanced down to see Gaby's hand balled up into fists.
"Right..." Kristina said,"Well we are going, so....uh...get up. Let's go, I guess." Kristina's head was full of possible ideas. They were planning to kill her, they were going to watch her, or they decided that if they needed a diversion she would be the first to go. Yet, Kristina never guessed what they were actually going to do.
"Okay, uh...is Romeo still driving the black truck?" Kalani asked.
"I don't see why not." Kristina responded.
"Well its one quarter of a full tank so....."Kalani muttered.
"Romeo!" Kristina shouted and starred daggers at him.
"What?!" Romeo held up his hand.
"Okay. We'll scout out supplies. We'll use the buddy system. We'll make groups of two no larger than four. Well...I'll make groups." Kristina said. Truth was she was going to scout out was the point of that little meeting was, and if Romeo needed gas why not hit two birds with one stone?
"Gaby take Jax, Katia, and Kalani with you. Elizabeth take Devin and Nathan. Romeo and Xander I'll take you. We need talk." Kristina said.
"Elizabeth find clothing. Gaby find any food that is canned and find batteries and flashlights." Kristina instructed as everyone split up and headed out the door. Everyone began to leave, and Kristina watched them go. Finally, she turned to Xander and Romeo.
"Okay, spill. What the fuck was that meeting about?" Kristina said.
Xander and Romeo looked at each other and back at Kristina.
"Nothing." The both said in unison.
Kristina sighed.
"This is going to be a long day."
