"What do I do with this?" Romeo asked as he clutched the phone Kristina tossed him.
"Answer it! I don't want it!" Kristina exclaimed backing up. She didn't want to converse with the devil at the moment.
Faint hellos whispered through the phone. Romeo put it on speaker and placed it in Jax's lap.
"Hey!" Jax shoved it back at Romeo.
"Be careful with it!" Kristina shrieked. It was one of the last things that she owned that was her brothers after all.
"Who am I speaking to?" Ash asked through the phone.
"Uh...Romeo. Is this Ash?" Romeo asked wearily. He was excited that Ash got to contact them. Maybe, they could go and rescue him. Kristina felt like she was about to barf in the trashcan.
"Kristina you coward. Have you not told them about all the dirty nasty details of my disappearance?" Ash asked.
Romeo and Jax stared at her in confusion. Xander walked out of Camille's room scratching his head.
"What's going on?" Xander asked. He heard Ash's voice. He had thought Persephone took him away, so naturally he thought either Ash escaped, was calling for their help, or he's dead and his ghost will forever haunt them.
Gaby clambered up the stairs loudly, and pushed Xander aside.
"Is Ash calling? I really need to speak with him." Gaby said as she made her way over to the couch. She knew Kristina was lying about Persephone thinking Gaby was the cure. At least, she suspected it. I mean what kind of person is that dumb. She wanted to ask Ash about it.
"Gaby, is that you? I need to ask you a question dear." Ash said through the phone.
Kristina assuming what the question was, and with all the stress, and basically having a mental breakdown barfed in the nearest trashcan.
Katia and Elizabeth walked out of their rooms. Katia glanced at the phone Gaby was holding, and walked over to her. Elizabeth spotted Kristina barfing in the corner and walked over to her.
"Kristina, are you okay?" Elizabeth asked worryingly.
"Wait! Is she passed out, because I really want her to hear Gaby and my conversation?" Ash said through the phone his voice covered with malice.
"No, brother." Kristina said forgetting that no one knew about them being related.
"Brother?" Katia's hand flew to her heart as if the piece of information might give her a heart attack. Everyone else didn't seem to hear Kristina, because of Ash's voice filling the room.
"Okay then, delightful. Gaby, I wish to ask you a question. A very important one that hold the balance of your life. Would you ever come to love me if I made a terrible wrongdoing against everyone?" Ash asked.
Kristina wiped her mouth and cursed. No one knew about the night in the sewage drain. No one. This could jeopardize everything. She got up and walked over to the phone where Gaby was thinking about her answer. The group remained in silence.
Hm......what does he mean love? Usually, when a guy says it he means... Yeah, don't what to get into that. Okay then, but he said it'll put my life in danger. I could lie say yes, and if he asks about it later I'll say I meant 'love you as a friend'. Gaby decided what she would do and spoke.
"Yeah whatever." Gaby looked at the people around her. Kristina looked like she'd seen a ghost, Xander just looked P.O from waking up at three in the morning, Katia just looked like she deciding the fate of the earth, in other words, thoughtful, Elizabeth just sat on the couch rubbing the sleep out of her eyes, and both Jax and Romeo stood huddled together talking about something Gaby couldn't hear. A long silence stretched out before Ash spoke again.
"Uh...listen Kristina. I'm thinking that your not holding up the border so well. Also, I hate you." Ash said. Kristina realized he was testing the bond between them even though he severed it back at the sewage drain.
"I still hate you Ash." Kristina sighed. She didn't have time for this. Any moment Persephone could send Zs where they are. Ash could just be a diversion.
"Oh, shit." Kristina realized what was happening. She hung up the call, but not before she heard too late from Ash and Persephone laughing maniacally in the background.
"Everyone pack up. Fast. I lied. I'll explain later. Hurry the hell up not time for drowsiness!" Kristina yelled as she rushed into her room to get her stuff.
"Lied about what?" Romeo asked.
Kalani stumbled out of her room.
"Gaby, what's happening? Why is Kristina running around crazily like we are all going to die?" Kalani asked.
"No time! Pack!" Kristina yelled.
Gaby turned to look at Kalani and shrugged. She ran to the basement to get her stuff. She grunted and realized she had to wake up Devin and Nathan and explain.
Everyone ran around the house packing what they could. Kristina was the first to the door. Gaby followed after because she didn't have much stuff. She lost a lot of her weapons, and had already wasted the Twinkie and taco she earned from Kalani. He pack was only filled with her metal bat with spikes she always used, food, medication, and her pillows and blanket along with other random junk she picked up.
Kristina had a gym bag slung across her shoulder and two backpacks. One slightly larger than the other. Gaby wondered why she had so much stuff. Kristina reached into the pocket of her backpack, and took out something wrapped in paper like a miniature package. She handed it to Gaby.
"What's this?" Gaby asked.
"Its about ten Advil pills." Kristina said as Xander and Jax ran up to the door and joined them.
"I really don't need anymore I have a-" Gaby started to reject the pills. Kristina pinched Gaby. "OW!"
"You'll need them." Kristina decided. She turned back and did a head count.
"KALANI! DEVIN! NATHAN! Hurry up we're not going anywhere special!" Kristina yelled out. Kalani came running out of Camille's death place.
"I know, but I had to change, do my hair, pack my-" Kalani started.
"Don't need to know." Kristina cut her off. Kalani grimaced as Devin and Nathan jogged in.
"Okay, here is the plan. We need a distraction. I will talk to Ash, Persephone, or whoever looks like they are in charge. Then, quietly in pairs you will run towards the heart of the forest behind me. We have to get out of Camille's place completely. Then there is a space between her house and the one next to hers you can run through. Elizabeth you'll stick with Jax. Katia stick with Devin and Nathan. Romeo and Xander you have each other. Kalani and Gaby will be the first ones to go into the forest. After that it doesn't matter." Kristina placed her hand on the doorknob.
"I thought you said we did it in pairs." Romeo stated. He looked around the room as the thought of never seeing him again reached him.
"I changed my mind." Kristina said casually. She opened the door to see a crowd full of organized Zs yelling chants as soon as they stepped out. Kristina spotted Ash sitting on top of their truck that was empty at the moment.
"Ash!" Xander yelled out.
"Xander," Ash said his name like he didn't care at all about him. Xander was saddened by this and shrank back into the group.
"Ash! I know you don't want to do this! You can walk away from it! Come with us!" Kristina shouted she separated herself from the group to give a distraction.
"Why would I want to come with you? What have you done for me? When we first met you pretended you didn't know me!" Ash spat out angrily. He looked down at Kristina as if she were a peasant and he a king. Which, happened to be the situation right now. Kristina heard the faint sounds of Gaby's and Kalani's footsteps retreating into the forest.
"I didn't know what you wanted! I'm not a mind reader Ash!" Kristina protested. Half of her mind was on the conversation the other half on who had flees and who had not.
"Did you tell them the truth? Or did you lie like the coward you are?" Ash asked. He said it so faintly Kristina had to strain her ears to hear him.
"Kristina what does he mean the truth?" Jax asked from behind her. He didn't sound very happy. He didn't sound angry either though.
Kristina thought about what Romeo had told her. That the base had served for kids who wanted to flee their broken home. She didn't want to be another disappointment in everyone's life, but she figured if she was going to be she might as well make the best of it.
"I see you didn't tell them. I'll tell you what Jax. Me and Kristina are siblings. Hence the black hair and same features." Ash said. He seemed rather uninterested as he said it.
"Kristina, why didn't you tell us? I don't believe this. All this time you had a way cooler brother and all we got to met was Christopher?" Elizabeth asked.
"But why does he have green eyes? Now when I think about it I do see some resemblance." Jax added.
"Our dad had green eyes, but that's not important. Don't you see what I'm saying? She lied to you!" Ash pointed out. He pounded the truck he was sitting on twice.
"Eh, with something so small it almost doesn't matter." Elizabeth said with a sigh.
"Leave." Kristina whispered. She heard Katia, Devin, and Nathan leaving.
"Yeah, when you think about it I wish she would've told us sooner, but now that we know it makes no difference on our live." Jax continued.
"Go!" Kristina whisper shouted. The Zs seemed agitated as much ad Ash. It was changing into anger quickly. Soon, it would be full on rage. Kristina noticed no one but Jax and Elizabeth were left.
"Unless, Gaby were to date or marry Ash then she would be related to Kristina and that would be weird." Elizabeth suggested.
"I'm done wasting my time with you," Ash said disappointedly, he waved a limp had in Elizabeth, Kristina, and Jax's direction. "Go, attack!"
The Zs ran like a full blown army. Even some Zs walking on the street nearby joined them.
"RUN!" Kristina shouted as she sprinted. This was exactly why she liked to be a lone wolf.
"You don't have to tell me twice!" Jax shouted over the noise.
The three sprinted into the forests running as fast as they could to the middle of nowhere.
