"It's locked." Kayden said. He was leaning against the wall on the left side of the door. He was half covered in shadows, Kristina guessed this was mainly for effect.

Ethan and Kristina stopped. Ethan's hand went into his pocket. Kristina reached into her gym bag and brought out two bobby pins.

"You're going to pick a lock to the rich guys mansion? There'll be alarms, then Zs, and then deaths." Kayden advised. Kristina knew his nature was to worry, but he was right. At least once. She wasn't going to pick the lock. She had already thought what he had.

Ethan figured they were going to be stuck outside till morning, and Kristina was the only one with weapons. He hadn't even known Kayden was taking a walk. At the same time as them. He wondered if Kayden heard his confession to Kristina. Hopefully not. Kristina grabbed his wrist and pulled him near the wall, snapping him out of thought.

"Ethan, if you do this right we can go in. I'm going to jump up, right after you do exactly what I did. Halfway I'll pull you up. Then I think there's a key right there." Kristina pointed to a tile on the ceiling.

"Where do I come in on this plan?" Kayden asked. Kristina scoffed at him.

"If I needed you I would've asked you." Kristina told him. She ran at the wall, for a while it looked like she was walking on it. Then, she jumped onto the roof. Ethan started at her in amazement. He couldn't do that. Kristina brushed off imaginary dirt.

"Ethan, your turn." Kristina said strictly. She stood on the slopped roof, smiling.

"I can't-" Ethan started to explain. Then, he felt himself being propelled into the air. Kristina caught his wrist and pulled. He felt himself sinking. "Shit." He muttered to himself.

"Kayden!" Kristina yelled in rage. She rolled Ethan over her shoulder, and dumped him behind her. Kayden went up onto he roof the way Kristina had.

"Look behind my beautiful face, hun." Kayden said angrily. Kristina looked behind him to see a dog. A red collar was wrapped around the neck lazily. A red light flashed on it, the dog sniffed, his head buried in a bush. Kayden sprinted to the downward slope of the roof and ducked down. Kristina followed him, and pulled Ethan down.

"What is that?" Ethan asked.

"Dog, tracking collar, probably looking for us." Kristina explained in a low whisper, her voice rushed.

"Someone taught you well." Kayden said and smirked. Kristina laughed silently at the ironic statement.

"Is it gone?" Ethan asked. Kayden took out a mirror from his pocket, and looked behind them.

"Gone." He said finally. The three stood up.

"Why do you have a mirror with you?" Ethan asked.

"I almost always wake up with good looks, but when I don't I need a mirror." Kayden said dramatically. Kristina rolled her eyes, and Ethan looked confusingly at Kayden.

Next morning-

Romeo got up to see a folded piece of paper beside him. He picked it up, and quickly unfolded it. It was written in loopy, neat, cursive handwriting.

-I thought about this team thing. I think we should split up into teams of three. These are the teams I propose:
Romeo, Kristina, Kalani, Ethan
Jax, Nathan, Katia, Elizabeth
Xander, Devin, Kayden, Isabelle
I separated Nathan and Devin, because they hold each other back. I put Kalani where she is, because she's the cure. Everything else checks out.
With patience,
Kristina Dotson
