"Run! Run! Run suckers!" Kristina yelled out wildly. She kicked Nathan who was closest to her. He shrieked and flopped away.
"Kristina! Be easy on them!" Romeo yelled from the front.
"He wasn't even running!" Kristina rolled her eyes. Why was Romeo so sympathetic?
"Can you run, Dotson?!? You're like a lazy potato!" Jax screamed at her breathlessly.
"I wouldn't do-" Katia started to suggest.
"Oh yeah!" Kristina sprinted up to the middle where Jax was running. "How's that for ya? Kristina ran further to the front with Romeo. "Who's the lazy potato now?"
"Ethan." Jax answered randomly. Ethan scowled.
"Ethan is fine! Nathan is the lazy lazy potato." Kristina giggled and stopped running.
"Am not!" Nathan shrieks.
"You kind of are, Nathan. No offense. I love you, but..." Devin agreed.
"See! Even your boyfriend agrees!" Kristina yelled at Nathan and laughed.
Romeo had them all running with Kristina coaching them. Kristina followed the group as James gave her directions when she wasn't distracted.
"Krist- Kris- KRISTINA!" James yelled at her to get her attention.
"Calm down, James. I'm a busy woman. My mind is at many places at once." Kristina lectured him.
Katia sighed remembering the many times she heard Kristina say that.
"We need to go that way!" James pointed to the dark shady place in the forest.
"Halt!" Kristina yelled. Her face was suddenly serious. If she knew her brother, he had something planned. She wanted to be extremely careful, so nothing that bad could happen to anyone in the group. "When I yell out 'elephants' you can come and follow me, but if I yell penguins I'm in trouble. If I yell 'dinosaur' you are to in NO occasion to enter the woods. Got it?" Kristina looked back at her group and prepared to pick a person.
"Kayden, let's go." Kristina choose quickly. Romeo looked confusingly at Kristina, but decided to follow her rules.
"So if she yells dinosaur we go, right?" Katia looked around nervously after Kristina had left.
She knew the word meant that there was extreme danger, but they weren't going to just leave her, where they? They had to pass through there to get to the hospital anyway.
"Then we will go around and come back later. Kristina is a sensible person, she'll be fine." Jax assured Katia.
"But...." Ethan had some doubt, but what could he do.
"Okay, she took Kayden, so he'll be able to get back to us at least. She would sacrifice herself for Kayden, so at least we would know what happened. He is pretty fast." James added.
"That's not helping." Ethan imaged Kristina sacrificing herself for Kayden. It wasn't a pretty picture.
"It's an advantage. Sure, not desirable, but she seems to work better alone without all of your problems and needs." James rolled up his sleeves.
"That will be enough, James." Romeo ordered firmly after he saw everyone's faces.
"Whatever." He sighed and walked away to sit down and wait.

"Shit!" Kristina screamed. She moved out of the way of a Z's claws.
"Just scream dinosaur!" Kayden told her running around wildly. He backed up against a tree and tried to avoid the Z's touch.
"I'm thinking we should just hit them and run." Kristina planned it all out in her head, but how would everyone else get through? If they so much as hit a Z they could unleash their biting power. If she escaped there was a chance everyone else wouldn't. She looked around hurriedly as she felt a sharp pain in her temple. A rock fell at her feet covered in blood. Kristina felt the trickle of blood running down her face.
"Kayden, run!" Kristina ordered firmly. "DINOSAUR!" Kristina yelled as loud as she could. The Zs looked around confusingly, but quickly realized the diversion and trapped Kristina.
Kayden sprinted faster than he ever had. He reached the group who was panicking. Kayden tried to tidy himself up by wiping some of the blood dripping down his face on his sleeves.
"Guys! Guys!" Kayden yelled quietly, out of breath.
"Kayden!" Kalani shrieked. "What the hell happened!?" Kalani rushed over to him.
"Kristina? Where is she?" Ethan asked.
"What happened to her?" Katia felt her brain fill with panic. She should've seen this coming. "Thanks for caring about me." Kayden complained sarcastically.
"There isn't time for that! Where is she?" Romeo pushed himself to the front.
"Duh, that forest place, but she yelled penguin not elephant." Kayden advised.
"What happened?!" Xander asked getting straight to the point.
"She got pelted and scratched and hit by Zs. Multiple." Kayden explained.
"Is she alive?" James asked.
"I don't know if she is now...she told me to run away." Kayden explained worriedly.
"I told you this would happen!" James shouted.
"We have to go help her!" Jax told Romeo.
Romeo knew that this is when his role of being the leader came into play. He knew this would he the hardest part of the job, but he had to leave Kristina. He had always told himself that he was a bad leader, maybe this was just another mistake. Kristina had made the rules for him, so there was absolutely no way he could go wrong. He wondered if she had done so on purpose
"Let's go, around." Romeo started to jog off knowing his teammates wouldn't be very open to the idea.
"Romeo! What the fuck?!? We can't possibly leave her there!" Ethan panicked. He usually didn't talk at all, so everyone turned to stare at him.
"What do you propose we do, Ethan? Huh?" Romeo snapped back at him. He assumed Ethan thought that this just affected him, but it affected everyone.
Ethan felt his face flush. "She'll die, if she is being pelted with rocks! I know it's a bad idea for all of us to just go, but every minute we stand here, Kristina could die."
"Everyone! We are going. No exceptions." Romeo glared at Ethan. He knew what he was doing. Kristina did know how to end the Apocalypse, but they could do it without her. At least that's what he hoped.
Everyone began to jog awkwardly behind Romeo. They passed through the forest and heard faint screams. The screams eventually died down. Ethan settled at the back. Katia and Xander ahead of him. Jax and James in front of them. Kalani and Kayden ran side by side with their backs to them, and Romeo led the group.
Ethan felt a tear slip out of his eyes and he quickly wiped it away. He hated Romeo, but still loved him. It was the worst feeling in the world. Only Kristina helped him, and provided him with a good friendship. What was he going to do without her?
Xander jogged slowly. His feet felt heavy. When they heard the screams all he could think of was Kristina. Horrible images popped into his head. He was never good with grief. He hated the emotion, but everyone told him he would feel that emotion one day. He always doubted it, and now he knew what it felt like. He knew he was wrong to think everything would be just right with his life. He was oh so wrong.
"Hey, guys?" Kayden said amidst the silence.
"What, Kayden?" James asked once no one answered.
"Do you think there's any chance Kristina survived?" Kayden whispered, but everyone heard him because of the deafening silence.
"We'll talk about that later." Romeo ordered just as James opened his mouth.
