Katia's group-
"Katia, my feet hurt!" Nathan complained.
Why in the world did Kristina have to put Nathan with me? I'm going to have to complain later. Katia thought this to herself as Nathan complained about jogging to the center of the forest.
"Katia..." Devin looked dreadfully behind them.
"Not now Devin. I'm busy." Katia replied. She was trying to figure out a way to the heart of the forest with avoiding most of the Zs.
"Katia, are we there yet?" Nathan asked for the one millionth time.
"Ugh! I swear if one of you opens your mouth one more time-" Katia's fists bunched up as she jogged.
"Katia." Devin whispered.
"What!!!" Katia screamed out her frustration.
"You've made a crowd of Zs begin to stare at us, because of your loud screaming." Devin said. He stopped jogging and pointed to the Zs who were sniffing the air. Half of them just looked at the three.
Katia and Nathan glanced at the Zs. Nathan let out a high pitched squeal.
"Nobody make another sound." Katia said, but it was already to late.
The Zs began to charge at Katia, Nathan, and Devin. Whether it was because of Nathan's squeal, or Katia moving away she didn't know. Devin stared at the Zs in amazement and muttered 'we're dead.'
"DON'T JUST STAND THERE RUN!" Katia exclaimed. She grabbed Devin and half dragged him. She pushed Nathan in front of her, while she ran as fast as her legs could.
"Katia! It's over! We're all going to die! I just wanted to tell you that I always had a fear of-" Devin started yelling quickly.
"Don't be an idiot! Run already!" Katia let go of his arm. He tumbled to the ground. He scrambled to get up, and started to crawl to put distance between him and the Zs.
"DEVIN!" Nathan yelled.
"I'm fine!" Devin panted back. He started to get up. His hand and knees were covered with mud.
Katia rolled her eyes. She knew she couldn't run much longer. Her backpack was weighing her down, and she was never good at running because she was far to short. Besides, she had Nathan and Devin to worry about as well. She gripped her backpack and pulled her bat out.
"New plan! We'll have to take down some!" Katia yelled over her shoulder. She was beginning to fell a sharp pain in her side from running.
"But, Katia!" Devin complained. He removed his own bat from his backpack. He ran up to Katia and stood in front of Nathan. Nathan didn't have a weapon, so he stood uselessly behind Devin.
"Okay, we'll just flank them. I'll go that way and you'll go the other way. Go." Katia explained she sprinted off leaving Devin and Nathan. Devin didn't really understand the plan, and he had to protect Nathan. This day wasn't going so good.Gaby and Kalani-
"Ugh, Gaby! I hate Kristina. She should've come up with a better plan." Kalani complained. Her shirt and thigh high boots were splattered in mud, and were covered in scratches.
"What's wrong with the plan?" Gaby asked. They walked side by side in the forest. Gaby proposed that they stick to the edge of the forest, reach the middle, turn, cut across, and met up with the rest.
"Well, we have to frolic around a muddy forest with tree's slapping my face with their stupid branches. Plus, the humidity is messing with my beautiful hair." Kalani pouted. Another tree branch smacked her in the back of her head.
"Well, at least we get to be away from the apocalypse for a bit." Gaby said. They hadn't seen any Zs yet. She hoped they wouldn't. She didn't think she could take them all on her own. She was pretty sure Kalani was one of those 'damsels in distress' when these sort of situations happened, but she liked her nonetheless.
"Yeah, but couldn't we be in like a comfortable living room with air conditioning?" Kalani asked. She plucked a leaf out of her hair.
Gaby chuckled, "In an apocalypse that is only a dream for those with false hope."
"Well, when we get out of this mess I'm gonna call my daddy and ask him to take me back, and give me a room with air-conditioning" Kalani said triumphantly.
Gaby wondered what she meant by take me back, but she shrugged it off.Elizabeth and Jax-
"J-J-Ja-Jax." Elizabeth stuttered. She stared at a horde of Zs. A clump of them carried Ash on a chair. They marched straight forward.
"Onward!" Ash ordered. He pointed straight with what Elizabeth assumed to be a staff.
Elizabeth was about to call Jax again when she looked back and saw him. She jumped in surprise. Jax muttered something Elizabeth couldn't hear.
Suddenly, about twenty Zs stopped and sniffed the air. They sniffed and started to move towards Jax and Elizabeth. Elizabeth replaced the vines she had peeked through, and moved out of the way. Jax was already getting out a dagger from his backpack.
Elizabeth looked at him with confusion. Obviously, he planned to fight them, but there was too many. Didn't he hand a fight of flight response? It was only to clear to Elizabeth that their best choice was flight!
Kristina had disappeared a while ago. Jax and Elizabeth were fighting about the best way to go to the center of the forest, and had turned to Kristina to settle the argument, but she was gone.
"Jax, what are you doing?" Elizabeth whisper shouted. She knew they didn't have much time until the Zs found them.
"Getting ready." Jax replied. He slung his backpack on a high branch.
Doesn't this guy have a flight response at all? Elizabeth hated Jax at that moment.
"Actually, I do, but I think I can take them. If you feel like you don't you could climb that tree and wait." Jax replied. He was staring at Elizabeth, waiting for her answer.
Elizabeth blushed crimson. It was then that she knew she has spoken out loud by mistake. She felt a sudden burst of anger.
"I'm fine, thank you." Elizabeth replied. She pulled her gun out of her backpack. She stalked over to the tree to put her backpack with Jax's. She realized that she was too short, and couldn't reach.
"Uh....can you..." Elizabeth asked. She felt the anger being replaced by embarrassment and then defeat.
Jax smirked and then chuckled. He walked over to Elizabeth, and grabbed the backpack," No problem."
He just finished hanging it from the branch when Elizabeth heard a voice.
"Kristina? Are you there?" Elizabeth immediately thought of Katia and Gaby. She panicked wondering if they were injured or worse...bitten.
"Elizabeth-" Jax called.
Elizabeth made her way to the place they had seen the Z army. She pulled aside the vines, and found herself facing head on the twenty Zs.
"Oh, that's where you are." A Z said mimicking the voice of Gaby. She wore a red checkered top with short shorts with holes in them.
Elizabeth had seen Kristina facing this Z in almost every battle with a unique sort of hatred. She had always wondered why.
They started to approach Elizabeth in a steady pace. Elizabeth ran. She ran towards Jax, and stood beside him.
"We can't do it. We're gonna die, and then I'll never get to say-" Elizabeth started to panic when the horde of Zs rushed in. They pushed the vines aside and charged at Elizabeth and Jax.
"Ugh, where's Kristina when we need her." Jax muttered.
Jax stepped away from Elizabeth and went to fight the horde without her. Elizabeth shot at the Zs from a distance, but her hands were beginning to shake. Suddenly, she heard a voice from behind her.
"You know I used to be like you." The voice said. Elizabeth spun around forgetting about Jax completely.
"Young, beautiful, and well you know human." Elizabeth saw it was the girl with a red checkered top. She raised her gun, but didn't shoot.
"No need to be frightened. I am Skylar Gibbs. You can call me Sky. You know, I always liked Ash. I always saw him from a distance, and now that he joined our side I can talk with him, and be with him. You can join us. Be free from this apocalypse. Be free from the worry that you'll get bitten." Skylar said in a persuasive tone.
Elizabeth thought about what Sky was offering her. A chance to be free. Free from worry and the apocalypse itself. It was just sooooo tempting, but she knew she couldn't. She saw Ash and she saw an king living the life of evil with the exchange of being free and not worried. Yet, Elizabeth knew when Persephone didn't need him anymore she would throw him away. Like an old toy without any battery left. She knew she couldn't leave the group or else they'll never forgive her. Heck, she wouldn't forgive herself. She'd be miserable.
"My answer's no Skylar." Elizabeth shot twice. She did it hurriedly, and as quickly as she could, but Skylar moved out of the way faster.
"You cannot defeat me Elizabeth Villarreal. You are nothing compared to me. You never will be. I hope you die in hell." Skylar spat out. Her brown eyes bore into Elizabeth's. Then, she ran away and disappeared into the trees and underbrush.
"Elizabeth!" Jax called out. He was trying his best, but five more Zs still attacked him and he kept fumbling over dead Zs at his feet. Elizabeth shot out, but she only killed one before she ran out of ammo.
"Sorry, I don't have any more ammo!" Elizabeth called out. Jax protected his face with his hands.
"Do something!" Jax called out.
Elizabeth tried to think of something. but before she thought of anything the Zs dropped dead. Elizabeth looked around, and up into the tree. She spotted Kristina perched in one of them with a gun in her hand. She reminded Elizabeth of a mini assassin.
"Jax look-" Elizabeth started to call out. Kristina gave her a 'shut your face' look, and threw ammo packets at her. Jax turned and stared at her waiting for her to finish her sentence.
"I found more ammo." Elizabeth said lamely pointing at the ammo on the ground.
"Nice." Jax said before he trudged off toward the center of the forest. Elizabeth glanced up at the tree Kristina was perched at, but she was already gone. She picked up the ammo, grabbed the backpacks, and ran after Jax.Romeo and Xander-
Their clothes were splattered with blood and dirt. They were also ripped up in certain places.
Romeo and Xander had decided that they would stick the one side of the forest, and cut across at the middle. They encountered Zs every now and then, but other than that they were fine. It was Romeo's turn to secure the perimeter, and he came back running.
"Xander! Xander! There's an army! An army! They have Ash in a chair." Romeo burst out. His shoulders heaved as he panted.
"Calm down. They'll hear you. We got to warn the others, but..." Xander started. The question of how lingered in the air like a horrible stench. Xander heard a thump beside him, and thrust his blade in that direction.
"Watch it!" Xander heard a voice beside him hiss. He felt someone fling his blade out of his hand. He faced the voice.
"What's wrong with you? You want to kill me now or something?" Kristina whispered to him. She punched Xander's shoulder, and turned to Romeo.
"I need you and him," Kristina jerked her thumb at Xander, "to help me get the others. Katia and Devin are fighting, and Jax and Elizabeth are heading into danger."
"What about our cure girl, and Gaby?" Xander asked.
"Oh, they're fine. They're not the dimwits that choose the stupidest way to go, surprisingly. I mean Kalani's not the brightest bulb of the bunch. I swear I have to babysit all of you." Kristina threw back her hair and rolled her eyes.
"I smell something boss!" A gravelly tone came from a few feet away.
"Hurry!" Kristina whisper shouted, and started to climb the nearest tree.
A flood of Zs led by Skylar came through after a couple of minutes. Skylar looked around, and a scowl formed on her face.
"Again, we lost her. I'll send you all to the lab if you don't hurry up and find her! Oh I smell her, you say. But you never find her! If you keep acting up you are going to end up like Bob." Skylar said crossly.
"I'm so sorry your highness Skylar. It won't h-happen again." The Zs moved away from Skylar as if they were frightened of what she just said even though it made no sense to Romeo.
"It better not Bob Junior!" Skylar spat out and moved away into the forest.
"Who was-" Xander began to ask.
"Shh!" Kristina brought her finger to her lips. She waited for the Zs to pass. She quickly climbed down, grabbed Xander's blade, thrust it at him, and began to climb.
"Shut your trap and move!" Kristina hissed.
"Yes ma'am" Romeo said as he moved carefully.
"Whatever." Xander said and scoffed. He moved after Romeo. Kristina felt tempted to shove him off the branch.
