"Okay, if Kalani is the cure we should take her to some research facility." Katia suggested. They all sat on the floor of some spare room, a low table hovered near the ground.
"Yeah, we'll just drive to the nearest one, while Ash's minions chase our tail." Xander said sarcastically.
"I agree. It's not safe to go by ground." Romeo looked worried. Their business about "saving the world" wasn't going well. Most of it was just a lot of arguing.
"We can go by plane or something." Kristina suggested.
"Like we have a plane at our disposal." Devin argued. Kristina just smirked.
"We do actually, but it's Mr. Farrow's. Someone's going to have to sweet talk him." Kristina said organizing the contents of her gym bag.
"I think it should be someone Mr. Farrow takes an interest in." Romeo added.
"That guy doesn't look like he takes interest in most things." Jax sneered.
"Well, I think we should wait and see who he likes best." Devin suggested.
"Yeah, but we can't wait that long. We lost the Zs, but they'll be looking for us. I think we should split up." Romeo nervously fiddled with his backpacks zipper.
"Bad idea." Katia said immediately.
"Horrible." Elizabeth added.
"How well did it go the last time we tried that?" Jax asked sarcastically.
"It could work." Isabelle said positively.
"Eh." Xander made a half committal grunt.
"Worst case scenario, is some of us die and the majority are safe." Kristina chided in. Ethan nodded in agreement to Kristina's statement. Devin and Nathan shook their heads solemnly. Kalani sighed and rolled her eyes.
"Okay, let me get all the people that said yes, and go brainstorm a fantastic idea over there. Everyone that said no help me find a research facility." Romeo ordered.
Kristina, Isabelle, Xander, Ethan, and Jax got up and left the table.
"I thought you disagreed, Jax" Ethan said as they settled into a corner in the room.
"I had a change of mind. Plus, I can't talk to anyone there." Jax complained.
"Isn't Kayden there?" Kristina asked.
"Nope. Restroom." Xander explained and set a bowl of Takis in the middle of them all.
"Okay, let's get started. How can we split up and still be safe?" Isabelle asked.
"Well we just have to evaluate each member and find out strengths and weaknesses. Then, split up everyone so they have a great team." Jax explained.
"I said this once, and I'll say it again. I thought you didn't support splitting up?" Ethan said to him.
"I don't, but if we're going to split up we might as well do it safely." Jax admitted.
"Okay, but we do have a lot of people who aren't necessarily good at fighting. For one there's Nathan, Kalani, and well....yeah that's pretty much it unless you count Devin." Xander grabbed a Taki from the bowl.
"Let me remind Webster's Dictionary publishers that the definition of "a lot" to Xander is two possibly three." Kristina said sarcastically.
"To be honest, I'm not much of a fighter either, so really it's four." Isabelle grabbed a Taki. She looked at it curiously, popped it into her mouth, and made a face. She didn't grab another.
"Well, I can fight, Kristina can as well, Katia and Elizabeth can fight too. That makes four, one helper for every weak person." Jax explained.
"I'm not entirely set on you plan either Jax. If your suggesting partners it's not going to work, trust me. Our best bet is to do what you're saying, but expand the groups." Kristina grabbed a handful of Takis and placed it onto a napkin. Xander shoved her shoulder gently to show his obvious disapproval.
"I agree." Ethan spoke.
"Okay Little Miss Perfect, tell me. What groups do you propose?" Jax said sarcastically, and grabbed a handful of Takis leaving the bowl empty. Xander got up to refill it with a grimace on his face.
"My name is Kristina. Also, the groups I propose should be like this." Kristina said. She pulled out a journal from her gym bag and flipped to the back. She tore out s page, and quickly got a pen out. Xander came back with three bowls of chips. He handed one to Jax, another to Kristina, and kept one for himself.
"What am I, chopped liver? Get me a bowl of chips!" Ethan argued.
"Do you even like them?" Xander asked with a dramatic sigh.
"No, but I feel left out." Ethan admitted. Kayden walked in and glanced at Romeo and his group, then at Kristina and her chips. He walked over to Isabelle and sat between her and Kristina.
"So, what's this group doing?" He asked snatching a Taki from Kristina's bowl.
"Well we're-" Xander started to explain.
"Get thee self gone man, and get this chip snatcher a bowl!" Kristina interrupted him. She waved her hands at him, and quickly out them down to protect her bowl of chips. Xander sighed again and left.
"We're actually pondering on how we should make groups. You know, so it's still safe." Isabelle explained to Kayden.
"Hm....your team isn't much. The girly girl over there probably can't fight, and that guy sitting with his hand on that guys arm probably can't run without passing out-" Kayden started to judge. Kristina almost forgot that he judged like he was a general in the military. She remembered when she was a child at the doctors office and she gained more than ten pounds from one visit to the next he would just laugh, and poke her stomach a lot.
"Nathan?" Ethan asked, as the group started to stare at Nathan and Devin.
"Oh, that's his name. Well he doesn't look like much, neither does the so called Devin." Kayden said with a sneer. He chuckled.
"To be honest, you-" Isabelle started to lecture him. Kristina was about to advise her against the idea, when Kayden interrupted.
"To be honest, you don't look like much either princess. You're in a dress." Kayden advised her not to go on further with a shake of his head. He looked like a disapproving father. Xander came and set a bowl of chips in front of him.
"Oh yeah. Fight me then!" Isabelle yelled at him. Kristina face palmed herself.
"Isabelle, he's like a-" Kristina started to advise her.
"You're a girl, Isabelle. By the looks of it you're more like a southern belle type of girl. It wouldn't do you good if you fight me." Kayden told her strictly. He eyed the bowl in front of him, as if interrogating it, finally he grabbed a chip and ate it.
"Kristina, hand me a knife." Isabelle said placidly. Kristina looked at her with suppressed amusement. She lived with Christopher which was the same as Kayden, possibly worse. She had been in Isabelle's shoes a dozen of times, and this wasn't how she would've handled it.
"Isabelle, just suck it up, and move on." Kristina said waving a Taki at her.
"You don't stick up for your own team!?! Fine then." Isabelle looked harshly at Kristina. Ethan handed Isabelle a knife.
"First of all, what team? Second, what the hell, Ethan!" Kristina exclaimed. She grabbed a Taki and threw it at Ethan.
"Guys, for real. I didn't bring the chips to be thrown at people." Xander lectures looking at Kristina. Everyone ignored the comment.
"What am I supposed to do? Kayden would've given her a knife either way!" Ethan argued.
"Also, I meant to point out the fact that were both female. Unless you're transgendered of course." Isabelle said calmly. She took the knife Ethan offered and cut the fluffy bottom of her dress. She cut the bottom just above her knees.
"Fuck you, Isabelle. I have been a female since birth!" Kristina shouted at her.
"You're seriously going to fight him?" Jax asked. He seemed rather amused like he was watching some comedy show.
"He offended me!" Isabelle shouted.
"How may I ask?" Kayden taunted her.
"Kayden, you're making it-" Kristina started.
"Worse? I feel like I've heard that statement before." Kayden mused to himself.
Kristina glaced back at the table where Katia, Elizabeth, and Romeo were arguing while Nathan and Devin watched the debate. Kalani just stared down at her nails. She sighed in relief that they weren't listening. She turned back to see Isabelle lunging at Kayden. She sprung towards Isabelle, and felt someone grab her wrist. She jerked back and fell onto the floor.
"Fuck, who in their right mind did that?!" She screamed.
"I did. Now shut up, this is fun." Jax waved a hand at her and looked back at Isabelle and Kayden.
Kayden hurled Isabelle over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes. This just succeeded in angering Isabelle more. Kayden rolled his eyes, and placed his foot gently on Isabelle's back.
"Wow, he's like John Cena to the tenth power." Jax whispered. He whistled loudly.
"I'm straight, sorry dude." Kayden looked at Jax. Xander and Ethan laughed beside him.
"Now he's a jackass." Jax whispered to himself.
"I'm pure human. Not a mule." Kayden said loudly.
"Isabelle!" Katia shrieked. Elizabeth glanced down at Isabelle. Her hand flew to her mouth to suppress laughter. Katia slapped Elizabeth's forearm and rushed to Isabelle. Romeo just sighed and moved quickly over to Jax. "What happened?"
"Well Isabelle lunged at Kayden, because supposedly he insulted her. Then, Kayden gently beat her up." Jax explained.
"One does not beat another gently, Jax." Kristina looked over to see Katia attempting to push Kayden off Isabelle. Kayden just waved a hand at Katia as if she were a fly.
"Shut up, Shakespeare." Romeo said exasperatingly to Kristina.
"Are you really that dense, Rome? My name is Kristina!" Kristina looked back to see Katia trying to reason with Kayden.
Romeo rolled his eyes. "Tell me you have your teams ready."
"I will tell you, but not now." Kristina said as she glanced down at the folded page in her gym bag.
"You have until tomorrow." Romeo ordered and stalk off towards Katia, Elizabeth, Kayden, and Isabelle.
"Why haven't you finished the teams?!" Jax yelled at Kristina.
"I have! Ethan, oh Ethan!" Kristina called. Ethan ran over to Kristina.
"What?" He asked obviously annoyed. Kristina shoved the folded paper in his hands.
"Give that to Romeo when he's alone." Kristina ordered.
"Why me?" Ethan complained. Jax laughed at him. Kristina glanced over to see Isabelle. Her face was flushed with color. Katia was beside her arguing with Romeo. Kayden was just smirking looking up at the ceiling like it was telling him what to say. Elizabeth, Nathan, and, Devin were talking in a circle in the corner.
"Because I'm lazy, Ethan. Look I'll owe you a favor." Kristina said sarcastically.
Ethan gave a half committal grunt. "Fine. I'm talking a walk." He ran a hand through his hair.
"Yeah, I'm going too." Kristina said slinging her gym bag over her shoulder. Ethan raised an eyebrow at her. "Not with you, stupid." Kristina chuckled and punched him gently on his forearm. Ethan and Kristina walked out the door leaving Jax behind.
