I breathed in and out. I then entered the classroom/practice room, and took a microphone out. No one was around. I clicked the button, and tested the mic. I then took a deep breath, and started singing 'Counting Stars,' by One Republic.
It was the song we had chosen for the festival. I had learned it pretty quick, and had performed it with our group a few times.
"Lately, I've been, I've been losing sleep
Dreaming about the things that we could be
But baby, I've been, I've been praying hard
Said no more counting dollars
We'll be counting stars
Yeah we'll be counting stars

I see this life, like a swinging vine
Swing my heart across the line
And in my face is flashing signs
Seek it out and ye' shall find
Old, but I'm not that old
Young, but I'm not that bold
And I don't think the world is sold
On just doing what we're told
I-I-I-I feel something so right
Doing the wrong thing
I-I-I-I feel something so wrong
Doing the right thing
I couldn't lie, couldn't lie, couldn't lie
Everything that kills me makes me feel alive

Lately, I've been, I've been losing sleep
Dreaming about the things that we could be
But baby, I've been, I've been praying hard
Said no more counting dollars
We'll be counting stars

Lately, I've been, I've been losing sleep
Dreaming about the things that we could be
But baby, I've been, I've been praying hard
Said no more counting dollars
We'll be, we'll be counting stars

I feel the love and I feel it burn
Down this river, every turn
Hope is our four-letter word
Make that money, watch it burn
Old, but I'm not that old
Young, but I'm not that bold
And I don't think the world is sold
On just doing what we're told
I-I-I-I feel something so wrong
Doing the right thing
I could lie, could lie, could lie
Everything that drowns me makes me wanna fly

Lately, I've been, I've been losing sleep
Dreaming about the things that we could be
But baby, I've been, I've been praying hard
Said no more counting dollars
We'll be counting stars

Lately, I've been, I've been losing sleep
Dreaming about the things that we could be
But baby, I've been, I've been praying hard
Said no more counting dollars
We'll be, we'll be counting stars

Take that money
Watch it burn
Sink in the river
The lessons I've learned

Take that money
Watch it burn
Sink in the river
The lessons I've learned

Take that money
Watch it burn
Sink in the river
The lessons I've learned

Take that money
Watch it burn
Sink in the river
The lessons I've learned

Everything that kills me, makes feel alive...

Lately, I've been, I've been losing sleep
Dreaming about the things that we could be
But baby, I've been, I've been praying hard
Said no more counting dollars
We'll be counting stars

Lately, I've been, I've been losing sleep
Dreaming about the things that we could be
But baby, I've been, I've been praying hard
Said no more counting dollars
We'll be, we'll be counting stars

Take that money
Watch it burn
Sink in the river
The lessons I've learned

Take that money
Watch it burn
Sink in the river
The lessons I've learned

Take that money
Watch it burn
Sink in the river
The lessons I've learned

Take that money
Watch it burn
Sink in the river
The lessons I've learned!"
I sighed in relief, as I realized that I remembered the entire lyrics by memory. I turned around to return the microphone, when I bump into someone. "Mr. Finn! How long have you been there?" I asked, nervously. He chuckled, "long enough to hear you sing that song! I say, Alison, your voice is so unique and delicate. Are you sure you're okay as a vocalist?" I nodded without looking up. "The only person who knows about my voice in Freddy, of course. I'm just too shy and nervous to sing in front of a real crowd." I say, thinking out loud. Mr. Finn nods.
"I completely understand," he says. I shake my head, "no you don't." He nods, "you're right, I don't."

He places his hands on my shoulders, "I may not understand how you feel, but I can help you." I tilt my head to the side, "how?"
He grins, "just focus on a few faces, and it won't seem like there's that many people! If that doesn't work, imagine the, in their underwear."
"Why would I--"
Mr. Finn walks out before I finish. He "accidentally" dropped a piece of paper on the floor. I pick it up, and smile at the words of encouragement. Thanks teach.

Yay! Another one down! What do you think the letter said? Do you think Alison will come to the festival and decide to perform, or do you think she'll skip?
