"Hi?" I ask and push open the door of my dads apartment.

"Come in." I hear and step inside with Bianca.

"Hey dad." I say and walk through into the kitchen and I'm cut off by a strange face sitting there with my dad to his right. "Um, I can leave?" I ask stepping backward slightly.

"No stay please." The guy smiles.

"Bianca, go. If I don't come back in an hour come back." I whisper and hesitantly take a seat at the table closest to my father. I loom at him and I only see worry in his eyes. "So, what do you need?" I ask hesitantly.

"He wants to take you outside the city. But I've already made that clear it's not happening." My dad replies in a low voice.

"Your from outside the city?" I ask astounded.

"Yes I am." He smiles. "Oh! And I'm Andrew."

"Oh I've been outside the city!" I reply perkily. "And do you remember how that turned out? Because I think it's best if you leave now because I'm not interested." I lie. I want to explore outside of the gate. I want to know what else my future can hold.

"I can see it in your eyes you want to." Andrew says.

"What do you even want from me anyway?" I ask.

"We want to test the percentage of divergence in the city." Andrew explains.

"You can't do that with just me!" I retort.

"We are taking at least five younger people from each faction including factionless." Andrew responds.

"You can't just do that!" I yell.

"Calm down Harper." My dad whispers to me.

"No!" I scream. "You can't bring any of my friends into this! Why do you need me? Why can't you do it in the city?"

"We can't tell you everything yet until you sign on to this." Andrew replies.

"So this has things other than testing the divergence of the city?" I ask. No reply.

"I'll be back tomorrow for your reply and I'll talk to some of your friends. Including the dark hair one... Um what's her name? Bianca! That's it. She is like your sister am I wrong?" Andrew asks. "Now goodbye." He stands up but when he gets to the door I speak up.

"My grandfathers name was Andrew by the way. Just so you know." I inform him.

"Nice to know." He says and leaves. I groan loudly and start quietly sobbing into my hand.

"I can't go outside the city. M-mom died there! And you all trusted them and then she died! I can't go! I can go! I can't-" I'm cut off by sobs rising in my throat.

"Shhh," my dad soothes holding me. "You don't have to go, they can't force you to go."

They forced mom to die. I think.
