Harper's POV

Jackson sits in the lounge by himself early in the morning. I go in quietly and sit beside of him.

"Hey." He mutters.

"Hi." I reply. "I wanna talk." I decide quickly manning up.

"Okay?" Jackson says confused.

"When life gives you lemons what do you do?" I ask.

"Make lemonade?" Jackson replies questioningly.

"Wrong." I say. "When life gives you lemons you eat them raw because you can't change people into something they aren't."

"What?"

"When life gives you lemons eat them raw. When life gives you friends," I hesitate. "Take them as they are."

Jackson sits there for a moment thinking. "Thank you."

"No problem." I'd always believed in that. You can't make people into something they aren't.

Amaryllis POV

I sit in my bed and watch Harper come back into the room after leaving for a moment. I stand up once I think she's asleep and peek out the door. At the moment I'm only wearing purple fluffy pants and a tight black top. My hair is in a tangled mess but I honestly don't care.

"Hey." I hear and jump frightfully.

"Don't do that!" I hiss.

"Sorry I'm not used to it." Jackson apologizes.

"It's okay." I mutter and sit on the other side of the couch from him but face him.

"Why didn't you tell me about any of this? Your PTSD? Or claustrophobia?" Jackson asks me.

"Your fears aren't something you broadcast." I shrug.

"I understand that but the PTSD? Nobody else in the accident- that I know of- has any problems." Jackson replies.

"I know." I whisper. "I don't sleep anymore." I tell him.

"What?" Jackson asks.

"I don't sleep. I'm afraid something will happen to me when I'm asleep. I was asleep on the van and I got stuck in the seat belt so I got half my face burnt off." I whisper.

"I'm sorry." Jackson reaches out for my hand and I take it hesitantly. "How long has it been since you slept?"

"I've took short naps but never set into a deep sleep. It's not peaceful and always full of nightmares. The only way to not have them is to just not sleep. I haven't slept well since I woke up from my surgery." I say. Jackson looks down guiltily.

"Get some sleep here." Jackson says.

"It's not going to work." I shake my head.

"Just try." Jackson says. I lean tensely on his shoulder but don't close my eyes.

"Will you stay?" I ask.

"Yeah." Jackson smiles. "Now sleep." I close my heavy eyelids but it takes a while to actually fall into an uncomfortable sleep.

Jackson POV

I watch Amaryllis as she attempts at an uncomfortable sleep. I can tell she hasn't slept. I don't know why or how I didn't notice. I play with the tips of her hair as I inspect her face. The stretched skin that they gathered from various parts of her stomach and legs. A long scar makes its way from her forehead and down to her chin. I run my finger slowly across it and tears prick at my eyes.
