The Long story of life

The van stands before me like another obstacle. But I would rather undergo any obstacles other than another van.

Wait and there I see him and realized I've just lied to you. I would want to do anything than face him but this time would be for the best. I'm not exactly sure how I feel on this matter but I'm already starting to feel the loss of him.

"Hey." He says sliding down the wall beside of me. "I'm sorry-"

"For what? Being a complete jerk? Yeah that's what I guessed. Don't worry though I'll be out of your skin soon." I roll my eyes and stand up.

"Stop." Noah grabs my arm and almost forces me to look at him but I finish the job on my own. "Is this really the way you want to remember each other?"

"Maybe it's for the best." I reply with sadness etching at my voice.

"How is that for the best?" Noah asks exasperatedly.

"Cause it's who we really are." I shrug and smile weakly. "I really do love you." I say hugging him one last time

"I love you too." Noah whispers in my ear and kisses my temple softly.

"Apparently not so much as I thought." I say not coldly, and not sadly, but regretfully.

"You don't really think that." Noah says disbelievingly.

"Maybe." I shrug. "Bye Noah."

"Be safe Harper." Noah tells me.

"It's dauntless Noah." I laugh but there isn't humor in my voice. There isn't really anything in my voice. No emotion or happiness. And then I hop into the van and I realize then I might not see him again.

I walk into the van and everyone but my dad is there. Bianca sits in the back like most dauntless and Peter in the drivers seat.

"Hey Bianca." I say and sit beside of her.

"How did it go?" She asks me.

"I'm pretty sure that was ending it for good." I grimace.

"It's okay. Look on the bright side, there's gonna be new imitates for you to train." Bianca says.

"Who's gonna help me train them?" I ask. "You could if you want." I suggest.

"That's not my thing." Bianca shakes her head. "I can be like- when I'm in the mood I'll actually come and just watch and boss the little hatchlings around but you do all the real work."

"Perfect." I smile. She looked sad like she could never be happy again but since when did you have to be happy in dauntless? The moment when Logan died her whole world changed. Not as much physical as just mentally. But even at that she barely realized why or how. She didn't realize that his heart was faulty. Nobody thinks it's going to happen but when do people think that their loved ones die? When do people think a disease will spread in approximately three days and half the worlds population will die within months of the infection? People don't think but they know. Bianca didn't think but she didn't know either.

So the train ride goes on in almost like shifts. Where I sleep not for long then we are both awake, then she sleeps. Like maybe if one of us is awake then the car won't wreck. I like to believe- wait. He said that. He said that a few times actually. He likes to believe. But the truth is belief is what we have faith in. I've learned not to trust belief. Cause when somebody happens to love you it hurts less when they break your heart if you believed they really did care.

"Harper we're back." Bianca says after a long time that I've practically slept approximately three quarters of.

I get up smiling and burst out of the door of the van before it even comes to a complete stop.

"We are back in dauntless!" I scream to Harper once she gets out drowsily.

"Let's see if Avary has trashed our apartment." Bianca says.

"Bye dad!" I say but I'm far gone before he even gets out of the van. I race back so fast I'm in the pit in a matter of minutes. It's just the same like nothing has changed. I notice a familiar red head flash through the air and I immediately rushed up to her and half tackled her.

"Harper?!" Avary half yelled half jumped back in surprise.

"I'm back!" I scream drawing attention to bystanders but I was just trying to make light of a moment that I couldn't make light of. "So is Bianca."

"What about Noah?" Avary asks.

"And Amaryllis and Jackson?" Falcon asks- who I just realized was there.

"Oh." I say stumped. I forgot that if actually have to explain that. "Long story." I shake my head. Avary looked toward Falcon who shared her confused looking face.

"Did Bianca come back cause of Logan?" Avary asks.

"Even longer story." I grimace.

"Let's get Bianca and then we can go back to our apartment and talk." Avary says but excitement had drained from her voice and is now replaced with cold worry.
