The rest of the teens from Chicago were coming today. We'll see how this goes. We stand against the wall of the building with Peter who has been assigned to us. Since my dad wasn't part of this experiment he's been working with Andrew on all this technology stuff.
"They are here!" Amaryllis says excitedly and jumps up from where she sat on the ground. I look up from where I pick at my cuticles and see people coming out of vans in all different colours. "Baldwin?" Amaryllis asks almost as a question.
"Woah- um what happened to your face..?" A guy about our age with a blue suit on asks.
"Baldwin? What kind of name is that?" Peter asks. I watch as people mingle amongst themselves but I focus on Amaryllis.
"Was it the accident?! Oh my god Amaryllis were you hurt?" Baldwin asks coming up to Amaryllis and hugging her shocked.
"I didn't know you'd be here. And yeah just the accident. Don't draw attention to it." Amaryllis says rushingly.
"Oh yeah, okay." Baldwin says and pushes on the bridge of his glasses. I glance toward where the Amity stand and Jackson stands with them.
"Long time no see Hailey." Jackson says and hugs a girl. I swear I can see hearts popping from her eyes. I feel a hand on my arm and I turn abruptly. But only Noah stands there.
"Come with me please." Noah says desperately.
"Okay?" I say and he leads me to the Candor group of around five.
"I'm related to him. Another cousin. Chloe's older brother." He points to a candor boy probably only a year older. Then he moves to the Erudite section where they politely talk amongst themselves. "That's my aunt. She is only two years older than us. Christina's sister." He points at a girl with caramel colored skin and dark hair reminding me of Christina. Then he leads me to the Amity section and points to one boy around our age but could be younger. "Chloe's younger brother."
"Wow." I breathe.
"Yeah." Noah replies and leans against the building again.
"Having that much family Isn't that bad." I shrug and stand beside of him.
"I know it's just- it's always been me and my parents. And Zeke and Shauna with Logan sometimes. It is a bit weird when your cousin gets one of your best friends pregnant though..." Noah says unsurely. Oh yeah I didn't think of that really.
"It's better than nothing." I shrug.
"I know." Noah squeezes my hand. We sit there for a moment silently before Amaryllis comes over to us.
"Does anybody know who that is?" She says eyeing the girl that Jackson hasn't left since the minute he saw her.
"I'm not sure." I nod my head no.
"You little people, come here!" Peter says as everybody's eyes turn to him and walks up to form quite a large circle. "Your gonna get these little things inserted into your wrists. Like for a scanner thingy. And it's only for certain doors." He holds up a small chip.
"Does it hurt?" A candor asks.
"Well there is a chip. Being inserted in your skin." I say rudely. "I don't think it's gonna feel nice."
