"I-I-" I gasp. "Can't!" I let my head fall back onto the pillow and I'm breathing heavily. They sewed my leg back on because It was a clean cut from something on the van. I couldn't feel my leg and they wanted me to wiggle my toes but I just can't.

"It's okay, we will try again." A doctor says. I squeeze my eyes shut and grip the sheets under me.

"Give her a break, come on, she's been at it for hours." Noah says. I don't decline.

"Can I please get out of the bed?" I plead once the doctor agrees. My breaths were raspy from the effort and my lungs ached.

"Your still having trouble breathing." The doctor notes. "Just keep the nose piece in." She points to her nose. I knew that she was talking about the small piece that was hooked to a breathing machine.

"Planning on it." I mutter. I position myself at the side of the bed and place my mostly undamaged leg on the ground heaving my body into the wheel chair.

"Careful." Noah warns gripping the handles. It had only been a day since my surgery but the progress wasn't looking pretty. My dad and the others weren't allowed to leave their rooms because of the smoke they all breathed and their injuries but I planned on visiting them today.

"I got it." I took over spinning the wheels until I got to the door I knew my dad was in.

"I don't know if your supposed to be in there." Noah says hesitantly.

"But you and I both know you don't have the guts to make me stop hmm?" I say smirking.

"Fine just hurry." Noah breaths.

"That's what I thought." I mutter pushing the door open attempting miserably to go through. Noah reached a hand out almost immediately and held open the door.

"Harper?" I hear my dad say.

"Hey," I say hushed a bit.

"Thank god your okay you know I mean- I'm just glad your okay." He stutters around as I wheel myself up to his bed.

      "I'm okay." I say quietly

"They wouldn't let me out to see you; I don't know anything about what happened please fill me in." He pleaded.

I pull up the bottom of my hospital gown to reveal the ugly stitches that held my leg in place.

"Don't get too excited. It doesn't work." I say.

"But it might." He shrugs but I see hurt it his eyes. He never liked to see me in pain.

     "Maybe." I shrug.

"How have you been." Dad says laying a hand over mine.

"Just been trying to get my foot to move even just a bit." I complain.

"But how have you been feeling. Not what you've been doing." Dad corrects.

"Miserable." I admit. "What if I can't walk again?" I ask on the verge of tears.

"You got to work for it? Got to fight for it. You won't just be able to walk without effort. You'll get it, don't worry." He says.

"I don't know how much more fight I've got in me." I whisper. "I've gotta go check on Bianca and the others." I finish turning my wheel chair around.

Dad grabs my arm softly. "Be brave, Harper." He says. I smile softly and continue out the door that Noah opens from the outside.

"Thanks." I mutter rolling myself out. I push my chair up to the next room number I recognize as Bianca's.
