"First." I say over the initiates who immediately quiet. "Fighting. Your match is up on the board first up Joe versus Piper." Joe looks scared with good reasoning. Piper is tall and doesn't look like she is going to take it easy on the small Amity boy.
"You think it's harsh to start them off fighting each other on the first day?" Bianca asks from behind me.
"I've got to see what I'm working with." I say folding my arms and sitting back watching Joe cautiously go into the ring with the bulky candor. "Come on Joe." I whisper.
"You aren't supposed to pick favorites." Bianca says.
"My dad did." I shrug which causes her to laugh. "He really did."
Bianca's POV
"They don't know who you are." I say.
"I know." Peter replies leaning against the couch.
"Have you seen her yet?" I ask.
Peter shakes his head.
"Good. I've gotta go to the cafeteria. My friends are expecting me." I say then stand.
"Okay I'll be behind you." Peter says and leaves the room only seconds after me. I start to the cafeteria, but I feel a weird sensation and curse under my breath.
"She's here." I whisper and point through the crowd at her pointed face. "Go!" I scream in a hushed voice, but she has already seen him and was pushing through people to get to us.
"What're you here for!" She screams with her words slurred.
"Ella." Peter warns, holding me back slightly.
"Why are you near my baby!" She screams gaining the few people's attention she didn't already have.
"Mom." I whisper grabbing her wrists. "Your drunk so shut up." I say warningly.
"No!" She screams pushing my backward with so much force that I hit the stone wall behind me. It knocked the breath out of me in one swift motion. "Why is he here!" She screams again hysterical.
"I came back with Bianca." Peter says calmly.
"Why are you near her!?"
"Cause she has raised herself!" Peter says accusing, his temper rising. "
"You can't come into her life after you abandoned her like that."
"Are you saying you didn't abandon her? You didn't zone out of the world and leave her?" Peter asks. I feel a hand grab my arm and jerk me up and away before I can even hear the next line. I don't see much of anything that happens after that except darkness.
Amaryllis POV
"He left too why can't we?"
"Because you like it here Jackson!" I retort for the millionth time.
"If it helps. If it doesn't we can come back." Jackson says.
"Fine just leave me alone about it!" I scream.
"I'm just trying to help you." Jackson says like it is so unbelievable that I'm upset.
"Just don't try and follow me." I say standing up and opening the door which lets out a cold gust of wind.
"Amaryllis."
"I said don't." I warn and slam the door. I immediately regret my decision when I am face to face with Noah.
"Are you going back?" He asks me quietly and we both start walking away from the apartments.
"I don't know. Why aren't you?" I ask.
"I don't know." Noah shrugs.
"You should. I'm sure your parents would be thrilled." I point out.
"Maybe." Noah shrugs again.
"Let's just put this out there. Your miserable and I'm sure Harper's no different in dAuntless. Your whole life is pointless here. I don't even know why you stay." I say in all honesty and Noah just nods like he is agreeing.
