"Why is this in my sock?" Jackson asks as he came into the living room and dumped the contents out of his sock and into a disposable bowl. A mixture of thick yellow liquid and a tinge of red.
"I don't remember putting the red food coloring in it." I shrug.
"That's my blood." Jackson says. "From stepping on an egg that was in my sock."
"Well whoever did that was smart." Bianca says distractedly. Jackson rolls his eyes and goes back into his room.
"An egg is his sock?" Noah asks.
"It was all Harper's idea." Bianca says. Noah raises an eyebrow at me.
"He deserved the eggs." I shrug.
"Noah come here!" I hear Jackson scream faintly. Noah sighs exasperatedly and pushes himself off the couch once he's in our room.
"What was that about?" I ask.
"Probably needs help getting ready for his date." Amaryllis says. I almost think of a smart comment but when I look at her it seems like she is only just on the verge of breaking. I go over and sit next to her.
"Don't cry over him. He's not worth it." I tell her and then she breaks.
"But I thought he was." Amaryllis cries. "But he didn't think of me as anything more than just a dead weight! And something he had to make feel better because half of my face was ripped off! I'm not anything to him. I never was."
I look on the wall that leads to the boys rooms and I see a shadow.
"I was never anything to him." Amaryllis whisper and whipes her cheeks. She throws her head back and over the edge of the couch. "Now I look like that idiot girl who really thought a guy liked her. I'm an idiot Harper." Amaryllis cries. I allow her to lean her head on my shoulder.
"I don't have to go if you don't want me to." Jackson comes out from the hallway he eavesdropped in.
"Just go on your stupid date!" Amaryllis screams and throws a pillow in Jacksons direction which causes a glass of flowers to fall out of their case and the vase falls to the floor and shatters. She hides her head back in my shoulder as if she was hiding from her problems that she couldn't hide from.
"Don't you understand you've hurt her!" I screech at Jackson. "Do you not have the guts to even tell her you're sorry! You broke her heart!" He seems a bit taken aback. He then steps out of the room. Bianca had stayed quiet through all of this.
"Maybe we can go to dinner?" I say.
"They have a nice Mexican place on the second floor." Bianca shrugs.
"Okay let's go." Amaryllis agrees and wipes her face with her palm.
We all get ready in semi casual clothes. I put on black jeans and a purple sweater. I put on some black converse and meet them at the door. Noah and Jake sit in the living room discussing some random topic.
"Hey where are you going?" Noah asks and stands up from his spot on the couch.
"Just dinner." I say as he wraps an arm around my shoulder in some form of a side hug.
