Jacob sat across the sofa looking into the kitchen. "You know how much I love you don't you?" Connie looked over her shoulder with a playful but suspicious smile. "What makes you ask that?" She met his gaze as he continued smiling. "Just wanted to make sure you knew." "Of course I do."
He continued to watch as she turned away returning to what she had been doing. Connie floated about the kitchen clearing the invisible mess bringing a smile to Jacob's face. She stopped what she was doing pressing her palms to the counter looking up to him. "Is there a reason you're watching me this morning?"
Jacob was up and off the sofa moving towards the kitchen, leaning against the side facing Connie. "You're beautiful-" "I highly doubt that right now." He rolled his eyes as she stood up walking to the fridge. "What time does Grace need picking up today?" "Not until three sweet cheeks, I'll have a coffee if you're making one."
She levelled her eyes at him as he smiled sweetly across at her. The fridge door closed as she pulled down the mugs from the cupboard. "How would you ever have coped if I'd have turned you down?" Jacob laughed slowly moving around the kitchen to lean against the side. "Please, there was no chance of you resisting all of this-" "Don't flatter yourself muscles."
Connie turned to him, her hands on her hips with a raised eyebrow. She attempted to maintain the serious expression but the corners of her lips gave her away as they upturned. "Yeah Con, keep trying to convince yourself-" "Shut up." She let the smile show before spinning back to the side putting coffee into the mugs.
Jacob stepped behind her wrapping his arms around her waist, resting his chin on her shoulder. He gently swayed side to side as she placed her hands over the top of his. His lips found their way to her neck gently kissing her as she smiled warmly. "And besides I was doing things for myself way before Mrs Beauchamp came along-" "That right?" She turned in his arms arching a brow. "You trying to imply I couldn't-" "No, no not at all muscles."
Jacob mimicked her expression beginning to tickle her waist as she leant into his chest, her hands pressed to his chest while she laughed. He quickly met her lips gently as her hand trailed over his shoulder until she held the back of his neck. They parted briefly before Connie pushed her lips to his again. The desperation between the two growing as they remained locked with one another.
Jacob didn't consider for a second taking it any further. He no longer had the urge to like they used to. Over the years he'd found something special in these moments that they shared. No words needing to be exchanged, nothing needing to be elaborate. Everything was simple, and that's how he liked it.
His hands had stilled on her waist as she parted from his lips with a smile. "Just the two of us today then-" "Well three technically..." He quickly kissed her once more as a warm feeling filled him at the thought of his unborn daughter, before letting her move from his embrace. She spun to the side about to pick up the kettle before Jacob stepped in front. "Uh uh uh... Jacob Masters can do things for himself and his lady." Connie stepped back holding her hands out as she pushed her tongue into her cheek watching him.
Connie took pleasure in watching Jacob do this just to try and prove his point. "So earlier, why did you really ask-" "Ask what?" Connie took the mug from him as he stood straight. "If I knew you loved me?" Jacob sighed placing his mug on the side before taking Connie's and putting it beside his. Holding onto her hands he just looked at her with a smile.
"I asked because I don't ever want a day to go by where you think I take you for granted. I never want to wake up worried that things could be taken from me any second, and either one of us not knowing just how much I loved you... Saying it out loud makes it real for me too." Connie never moved her eyes from his as he smiled, almost embarrassed at his own words.
She lifted a hand to his cheek causing him to look back up at her. "Mr Masters you really do have a way with words when you want to." Jacob smirked as Connie dropped her hands. "But right now, I want my coffee." She smirked picking it up from the side and wandered away from him.
Jacob shook his head with an ever growing smiled before joining her on the sofa. As soon as he sat down she lifted her feet across his legs getting herself comfortable. He looked at her wearing one of his old shirts, their baby becoming her most emphasised feature in whatever she wore. It didn't matter what Jacob said to her, Connie became more and more self-conscious about how she looked with each passing day.
She caught him looking to her, seeing his eyes running up and down her body caused her to drop her head no longer looking happy. "You know I think I'm pretty lucky-" "What?" "With you. Not many men can say they've got a gorgeous wife sitting at home." A glimmer of a smile flashed across her face as Jacob placed a warm hand to her thigh gently running up and down her leg in a soothing manner.
"I don't care about all the things you say are wrong with you. Con you've carried our baby for the last eight months, how could I ever find that unattractive?" "How could you not? I mean I have stretch marks in places I didn't even know existed, my clothes don't fit, I'm constantly crying and I just look hideous."
Jacob sat up moving across the sofa until he was close enough to lift Connie from the sofa and onto his lap. "Now you are being a complete idiot-" "Excuse me?" "No Connie, for once in your life you're wrong. Yes miracles do happen and it seems I'm right, but you could never be hideous sweet cheeks. I love every piece of you and always will. Nothing can ever change that..."
She had relaxed into his touch as he traced circles over her lower back while speaking softly against her temple. "As Whitney said, I will always love you..." Connie smirked looking down at her lap trying not to laugh knowing he wasn't being funny. When she finally looked up at him he sighed. "Will there ever be a day when you believe me when I tell you you're beautiful?" "Yes... The same day you do things for yourself muscles."
Connie got off his lap narrowly avoiding a cushion Jacob threw at her. "Alright, alright..." She was in the kitchen once again where she had been earlier that morning. "Con?" "Yes?" He met her eyes with an entirely serious look. "I love you." She nodded swallowing a lump that had risen in her throat. "I love you too Jacob. So much." He let himself smile across at her realising just how far they had come and yet how far they still had left to go.
